captainscott 11-25-2007, 12:05 PM I think if the caps are not in a playoff spot at deadline this is a guy the devils should try to get.
He is smooth can bust the trap and has gomez like skills. He would be a perfect fit on the devils and would allow elias to go back to wing and zubrus could move to third line w/pando and madden.
I know it's early to start spewing trade ideas and i usually never do but this one seems like a perfect fit, although i don't know what he makes and what kind of contract he has with caps. the devils could give berfgors and a pick?
The Cuban 11-25-2007, 12:08 PM Agreed. He's one of my favorite Swedish players.
BenIgnorant 11-25-2007, 12:09 PM I think he'd be a terrible fit. He's making 4.875 until 2010-11. He's softer than butter. We would have to clear a little cap space and it would greatly limit the team's flexibility. Might work for this year, maybe next but it's a bad long-term move. He's not the right player to use the cap space on. Caps also would look like a cheap organization for trading a player they just signed. They'd have to find another FA to sign because the Devils don't have any prospects that could step right into the Caps lineup and contribute. It would royally piss AO off too. They need to start winning.
fortheloveof666 11-25-2007, 12:22 PM I'm sure this might draw the ire of some but...I wouldn't mind picking up Morrisonn from the Caps if we were gonna get anyone (realistically, that is)
I really think that he could become a great d-man in our system.
Edit: and at a 900k hit plus being a RFA next season, we could probably get a good deal on him if they're willing to move him.
åboriginal 11-25-2007, 01:58 PM wouldnt näslund be just as good a deadline move if necessary? of course id like to have him signed for a reasonable price if possible. hes more a complete player than michael is. i doubt we see either, but id take markus if given the choice.
Darius Dangleaitis 11-25-2007, 02:30 PM We need to acquire somebody if they are actually serious about going deep in the playoffs. This team obviously won't do the trick.
DevilsFan38 11-25-2007, 03:59 PM No interest in Nylander with that contract. If he was a UFA, maybe, but not signed for that long.
I like Morrison's game, but I don't see the Caps trading him. I haven't followed them much this year since moving back to Jersey, but he was solid for them last year, and they're weak at defense as it is.
AfroThunder396 11-25-2007, 04:20 PM Id like to pick up Brian Rolston. Apparently the Wild need a shake-up and he might be on the block. $2.432M is a managable cap hit and we would only be responsible for about $1.8M. He's defensively responsible and has a wicked slapshot.
Not sure who we would give up though.
Das Uber 11-25-2007, 04:28 PM No to Nylander.
JerryGigantic 11-25-2007, 04:29 PM No to Nylander.
Second the non-motion.
newfish 11-25-2007, 04:39 PM I like Nylander but he wont leave washington
Colin Whites Eye 11-25-2007, 04:58 PM no thanks on nylander. definitely would love to see Rolston back here though
dzanimal16 11-25-2007, 05:10 PM yup i wish the devils woulda signed him over the offseason
Gunnar Stahl 30 11-25-2007, 05:54 PM how much doeds he make?
AfroThunder396 11-25-2007, 05:56 PM how much doeds he make?
Nylander's cap hit is 4.875 for the until 2011.
Colin Whites Eye 11-25-2007, 06:38 PM yea thats way too much for my liking
None Shall Pass 11-25-2007, 06:41 PM Gomez a Ranger, Nylander a Devil. That is a world I never would have imagined last season.
Das Uber 11-25-2007, 07:15 PM Gomez a Ranger, Nylander a Devil. That is a world I never would have imagined last season.
Ideally, Nylander should be on Islanders, Satan on the Devils, and Paul Ranger on the Rangers.
Brooklyndevil 11-25-2007, 07:36 PM Just as long as we don't trade Parise, Zajac, our first round pick and my new favorite Devil - Colin White :D, I'm good for a deadline trade if we're in a solid playoff spot.
Muttley 11-25-2007, 08:15 PM A 35 year old forward wouldn't fit into this team's plans for the future and besides, we really don't need any more European players. ;)

Muttley 11-25-2007, 08:30 PM :biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:
Yeah, I liked it too.
But I'd rather have Paul Ranger on our blue line.
Gunnar Stahl 30 11-25-2007, 09:44 PM Nylander's cap hit is 4.875 for the until 2011.
way too much
åboriginal 11-26-2007, 12:30 AM besides, we really don't need any more European players. ;)
huh?
Colin Whites Eye 11-26-2007, 12:32 AM Elias, Zubrus, Brylin, Rachunek, Vish
thats too many for you?
JerryGigantic 11-26-2007, 01:02 AM Ideally, Nylander should be on Islanders, Satan on the Devils, and Paul Ranger on the Rangers.
Solid joke. Just solid, man.:handclap:
Alcoolique 11-26-2007, 08:48 AM Sorry, he would be ok if his contract was 1-2years ... But ... His contract is like... 4-5years? At 4.5 millions??? Too much.
Das Uber 11-26-2007, 09:08 AM A 35 year old forward wouldn't fit into this team's plans for the future and besides, we really don't need any more European players. ;)
What's wrong with European players? I think you're a racialist.

Yup, there is no way the Caps are parting with him at this point. He is one of their best D-men.

I love Europe, enjoy traveling there and respect it's culture & diversity.
Besides, my ethnic backgroud is of European origin.
I can't be a racialist. ;)
