Stories of the shutout...

I haven't picked up the papers/local stories of last nights game just yet but I just read the AP story/summary of the game.

Now while there is no doubt we won that game in large part due to Marty, something I find a bit frustrating is the lack of acknowledgment of the teams overall play.

At the end of the story where they make notes they say, to summarize, "Brodeur shut down Marian Hossa who has tied the teams record of two points in six straight games."

Now while I would wholly support saying Marty shutdown Kovalchuk and pretty much every chance Atlanta did have. I can't remember any point in that game last night where Hossa was even remotely close to a threat, or in a position to be one. What I do remember though is him getting absolutely destroyed 2-3 times by one of our guys and being roughed up to throw him off his game.

I know no one that would read that on our team cares about the wording or the fact Marty gets all the credit in that way, but I just think it undermines how incredibly well our team played last night and in this case were the reason Hossa had absolutely nothing.

I mean with the exception of Bambi Oduya being one of the worst defensemen this team has ever seen, we played an amazing, methodical, and tight game last night on both ends of the ice. None of that is even mentioned throughout the article and I just find it a little annoying because the guys deserve some credit.

Hopefully instead of riding bikes after the game Sutter took em out for a beer and some steaks.

Marty was phenomenal last night. He stopped some of the softies he let in in the beginning of the season last night, same type of shot but he knew they were coming.

I also noticed Marty is playing a different style, he's being more cautious around the net and not letting chances go in. He had the stick all the way down last night for those right side shots which he doesn't usually do.

Overall our win last night had alot to do with Marty. Our guys looked good and blocked alot of shots too, but some of those odd man rushes that went through would have been goals on a lesser goalie.
