My guess is he wont play, but who knows. He probably got called up becasue Rachunek is out and injured.... always good to have an extra body....... last season we werent able to do that because of the cap situation, this year we can....

as another poster said, sutter was probably just saying that he was too slow because he just sucked overall and that will kill his trade value even more

if it takes a few big hits from a 240lb dman to get these bananas goin, ill take it. plus, wouldnt u like to see st louis/richards/lecavalier tossed around like a ragdoll? i know we cant expect that from martin or oblowya

whats the scouting report n this guy????

New Jersey Devils Olli Malmivaara [6-7 220lbs 25yo] Scouting report: No. 6 or 7 defenseman.
Assets: Has a huge frame and wingspan. Takes up a lot of space in the defensive zone.
Flaws: Needs more work on his skating and coordination. Must develop a mean streak.

So if Olli takes a penalty, who will be the first to say "This is a fine mess you've gotten us into"?

Solid effort from him tonight. Looks much improved from the games I saw him in last year in Lowell. He looked like a stiff... but tonight, no complaints. :)

i only got to catch the last half of the 2nd period on and the little i saw of him, he didnt seem to quick on his feet. but with a little more work, i dont see why he cant, with his size, get onto the last pairing. as far as im concerned, the whole dman slots shouldnt be set in stone as theyre all still finding their games.

He played pretty well tonight I thought. Didnt log a lot of minutes, and it was clear Sutter made sure he wasnt out there against the Lecav line if possible, but all in all a pretty good 1st NHL game.

He looked good out there tonight.
He also looked HUGE. 6ft. 7in.? Watching him skate past Gionta on a shift change was actually one of the funniest things I have ever seen on ice.
I would love to see Olli and Chara go toe to toe...just for chuckles.

He was slow, but fluid. He didn't feel like a neverending cluster, like Oduya.

I wouldn't mind giving him another chance.

although he didnt play very physical, he did a good job clearing out the front of the net after rebounds

It was amazing last night. Our D was actually quite good. It is amazing what happens when you remove Rachunek out of the picture.

I don't know how much of a fighter he is. I wouldn't want to see him get Koci'd.

Fins have the funniest sounding and coolest names. I like to name my pets after Finnish hockey players. I used to have two pet rats named Koivu and Antti.

yes i have changed it to Keep up Malmivaara, and yes i think he looked decent out there, and for all the people that think he looked slow i really didnt see that as being a factor like he wasnt caught out of position at all due to speed reasons. And he may look slower due to his size and the fact that he has much longer strides, this makes his speed deceptive because he take less strides than most players to get to the same spot.

I LOVE the name Teppo. In fact, that was in the running when I chose those other names. Teemu, Raimo, Kimmo, Jarkko, Jussi, and Jani are some other great ones. Jarkko sounds straight out of Star Wars.
