It appears they're still trying to find a home for Zubrus. Ugh, I hope this doesn't translate into another bad signing. :shakehead

Hopefully the team will get it together tomorrow night.

I'm glad Parise is back on the wing. I think they should stick Zubes back at center and give him another shot there.

Zubrus' bad start has screwed up this entire team offensively because we can't find a place for him. He's screwing up any chemistry that another line would have because he can't get it together.

I think its more than just Zubrus. Holy god I miss Langenbrunner. I could go for one of those gritty Langs goals

first of all

***!!!! look at our defense. we have 2 players that have played an enitre season.

brylin deresves top 6 minutes right now. he has been great and his linemates have been holding him back but i would still much rather have zajac with elias than brylin.

right now i think if we were going to rank our lines1-4 i think it would go like this

parise-zajac-gio
pando-madden-zubrus
elias-brylin-clarkson
rupp-pelley-asham

good news is though the lightining dont have a road win:phew: bad news is the lightning dont have a road win:banghead:

I wonder if anyone is reading our suggestions and giving them to Sutter, or just coming up with the logical conclusions. I suggested we put Martin with Greene because that was our best D and voila here they are. It also makes sense to have brookbank with Vishnevski for a heavy grinder line.

Unfortunately we still have to worry about Oduya dropping the stick. Maybe Mattau should carry an extra stick with him on the ice strapped to his back?

I like those D pairings a lot. By a lot, I mean compared to the crap we've had since White has been out. Hopefully Oduya-Mottau get 3rd pairing minutes. I also like Zubrus with Madden and Pandolfo. At the start of the season, that's where I thought he would fit best. But man, do we need Langenbrunner back to complete the top two lines. Right now, Elias is the only real threat on his line, which might be a good thing.

i would love these lines if they would work together

This might get Parise and Gionta's game going, not sure what it'll do to Elias' though. I love Sarge and Clarkson, but they're just not at the same level.

Like the new defense pairings, especially if Oduya and Mottau get minimal minutes! And the Vish-Brookbank pairing has the potential to be nasty.

Zubrus just needs to park himself infront of the net for a while. He is never in a position to score, all he looks to do is pickup the puck from behind the boards, and seems to never look to score. He seems to have a pretty solid shot, and if he can start using his body infront of the net to deflect shots and move around defenseman I see no reason why he shouldn't score regularly.

This was during the practice

Rupp and Clarkson appeared to finish in a dead heat. Rupp said afterward that he thought he beat Clarkson, but Madden disagreed. "Clarkie nosed you out," he said. Rupp didn't buy it. "Nosed me out?" Rupp asked and then turned his head to show his profile, which made it hard to believe that anyone could have beaten him by a nose.

Like people or not, but wishing injuries upon your own players is just classless...especially when it's on our own players.

I can't believe some fans actually go out and say things like this. It's an embarassment. How do people think that our players will get better when their own fans aren't supporting them at all?!

Just imagine if the Devils players actually read stuff like this. Just wonder how that would make them feel. :shakehead

Just imagine if they read 99.9% of your posts, as you are bar none the most highly critical and negative person about everything and everyone Devils on this board. They wouldnt have to worry about "feeling" bad as you say, because the entire team would have commit suicide by now after reading your junk.

I might be hard on the team for their play and frustration from fans is understandable, something I know the Devils players understand after their start.

But wishing an injury to our own players is just a different issue and something that shouldn't even occur. And I don't believe for one second that it was a joke.

I would like to see an Elias-Madden combo of some sort. We were so focused on D last season and that hurt Madden's numbers. with the new system its obvious by the games already played, that he has a solid if not great offensive game. (plus, i heard on that fire and ice blog that in practice the other day, madden beat elias in a race)

I wish Gionta would do this a bit more as well if only the Devils would actually get some freaking time in the zone.

Interesting combos. Hopefully Sutter keeps them for an entire game this time.

That's not a surprise, Madden has been one of the fastest skaters in the NHL for some years now. Several years ago, he caught Pavel Bure from behind on a breakaway, and folks really talked about that quite a bit. That was back when Bure was consistently refusing to take part in the "Fastest Skater" competition each All-Star game, because God forbid if someone turned a better time than "The Russian Rocket" he may lose some endorsement dollars.

I was thinking the same thing. The way the lines are now, it's too top-heavy. If the Parise line doesn't score, we are screwed.

I think that Parise and Zajac have enough chemistry that they don't need a goal scorer like Gionta on their line. Put Gionta back with Elias. The question is who to center them. I think Madden is a great idea. The dude has been flashing his offensive game this season, so let's see him work it with some skilled wingmen.

If they are trying to recreate the ZZ-Pop line they should put Clarkson with Parise and Zajac.. as clarkson at least has that grittyness of Langs.

so my suggestion for our top 2 lines would be
parise-zajac-clarkson
elias-madden-gionta

Well, from the beginning, I didn't think Greene and Rachunek should be playing together, they just don't fit. I don't think Rachunek is bad, but I thought he was too similar to Greene. Likewise, I think Greene and Martin is the right top pairing.

BenedictGomez

I think Greene and Martin is the right top pairing.

I think a logical reason for keeping Greene and Martin apart is so you done have all your offensive defenseman eggs in one basket.

You are correct, and he seems to be one of the main reasons why the offense cannot click because we keep shuffling lines.

Yup! and people said Madden was slow. HAH!

I think sticking Elias with Pandolfo and Madden might actually work. But Zubrus might actually work better with them since the 3rd line shuts down opponents anyway.

Good move putting Zubrus with Madden and Pando. As for Sarge, I love the guy, but this just proves that we need another center. Should we tank, Stamkos would sure looks good as our future second line center.

Madden has been flying this season. Although I was on Sutter for breaking up the Mandolfo line earlier in the season, with our scoring doldrums and Sutter trying every line combo mathmatically available to him, I'd love to see an "Elias - Madden - Clarkson" line. And keep Pando and Mad Dog on the PK together.
