anyone else happen to see kevin smith at opening night? me and my gf saw him as we were entering the arena. he was walking and lighting a cigarette out in the street. pretty cool we got to see him. when my gf noticed she pointed and said look...its silent bob...and he smiled at us.

I've seen him at several Devs games before, most recently the second game ( I believe) last year vs. Tampa

If I saw him hanging outside of an entrance smoking a cigarette I'd try and score some weed. I don't even smoke weed anymore but it would be impossible not to ask him for a dimebag....

Mewes was on Oxycontin and Heroin and last time I checked he's been clean for like almost 2 years.

I only defend it because I had someone close to me addicted to that **** and for him to over come it is a huge improbability.

Plus everone automatically assumes just becasue they are in films together that they are best friends which is hardly the case.

You are entirely wrong. Not only are they great friends, Mewes is now clean and has been for quite some time. Smith let Mewes live with him and was basically the biggest factor in his rehabilitation.

I guess I need to fess up here about something that happened last season...

Because of my own similar dark hair, beard, belly and glasses I am sometimes mistaken for Kevin Smith, and since I am also in the film business (although not at all famous), and travel in those circles, in darkened bars sometimes my film friends will tell people I am him as a joke, or to impress girls or whatever, many drunken folks falling for the gag. I just play along, silently, often very embarrassed.

But last season the resemblance caught me a little off guard. During one particularly hard fought Devils game, I was being particularly boisterous, talking smack to opposing players in the penalty box, cracking wise to the refs, generally getting our section going and making people laugh.

After the game, as I was turing to leave, two Devils fans in their early twenties come up telling me how awesome they think I am... I was taken aback, but glad they liked my pro-Devils smack talking, for whatever reason, and we were all glowing after the win. Then they ask if they can get their picture taken with me, all sheepish and hopeful, which obviously confused the hell out of me, but I oblidged and took pictures with the both of them.

As they hurry off, one turns to me, welling with pride, and points to his heart and says, "Monmouth County, born and raised." Then he runs off, high fiving his buddy.

At that point it dawned on me who they thought I was, but it was too late to say anything.

To this day I crack up at the thought of those kids showing their friends their cel phone photos with Kevin Smith, only to hear back "I don't know who that a-hole in the picture is, but he sure as hell isn't Silent Bob."

Ha! Good story... at least you didn't sign an autograph... :sarcasm:
