When will Colin White be placed on LTIR?

Anyone who knows anything about eye injuries (similar to the one White suffered) knows that they take quite a long time to heal, and that during the healing process, you can't do anything physically taxing (like skating, running, etc) as this exacerbates the wound.

Also, from what we've heard, he will be out until December/January at the earliest. Even then, he will need to undergo extreme conditioning and such, just to keep up with other players.

So why not simply wash him out for the whole season (until he gets fully healthy) and bring him back Matvichuk style? Like towards the end of the season after the trade deadline?

We can use the open cap space to sign someone for the interim (like Markov).

Markov is in Russia I think.

I don't mean just Markov... but to have room to sign anyone.

There's no need to place White on LTIR. We can always do it retroactively if Lou wants to sign someone.

Because we're past the 10 games thing?

He's been skating.

White has been skating for more than a week and training with Jamie Langenbrunner, who underwent surgery to repair a double hernia.

Because our defense sucks too much without him.

This isnt true. I've had retinal detachments in both of my eyes that require both cryo and laser surgery. While the recovery is in fact a Bitc*, I was given the all's clear by the doctor to play tennis and go snow skiing in about 2 months.

Like who? It's 10 games into the season not the offseason anyone who could help is already signed.

"Jamie Langenbrunner continues to skate after off-season hernia surgery and hopes to return to practice by the end of the week. It's been more than a month since defenceman Colin White was hit in the right eye with a deflected puck, but he still isn't certain he will play hockey again. His vision has slowly improved, but White said Saturday he doesn't know if it is good enough to play in the NHL unless it gets even better." - Newark Star-Ledger
