warning 10-03-2007, 02:06 AM Last year, at the home opener, they played Blur - Song 2 after goals. Then, they switched to the Ole song because I heard it won a fan vote.
Any word on what it will be this year at The Rock?
I'd take pretty much anything over the Ole song again.
None Shall Pass 10-03-2007, 02:16 AM Ole or nothing, that song is perfect.
crashlanding 10-03-2007, 03:02 AM They played Ole in both Trenton and Lowell during the preseason so it looks like that's our goal song.
Darius Dangleaitis 10-03-2007, 04:02 AM Ole or nothing, that song is perfect.
No way. Rock and Roll pt 2 is the best goal song around.
Chico Resch 10-03-2007, 04:24 AM They should use the chorus from Eddie Murphy and Rick James party all the time.
I miss Rock And Roll Part 2, It worked so well, the horn would blow twice then the drums would fade up. Dundundundunnduuuun...
cj225 10-03-2007, 08:17 AM Last I heard, they were working on a new goal song for Newark!

they play rock and roll part 2 (HEY song) in bridgeport..... Sounds cool
Colin Whites Eye 10-03-2007, 12:15 PM im not a big fan of the Ole song...its alright, nothing special.
i agree, Rock and Role Part 2 was awesome...but it doesnt look like thats coming back anytime soon. id be intersted to see what we go with this year
Game Breaker 10-03-2007, 12:18 PM It would be an awesome almost homecomming, after the first goal is scored and everyone jumps up, horn blasts, then rock and roll starts playing, the place would probably fall down from everyone being so loud.
HBK27 10-03-2007, 12:50 PM Last I heard, they were working on a new goal song for Newark!
Please be true...I can't stand the Ole song.
My vote goes to Naughty by Nature's Hip-Hop Horray....Hooo...Heyy...Hoo...
Since they're from Newark and all...gotta represent! :sarcasm:

I wouldn't mind bringing back "Whoomp, there it is"!!
MoonDragn 10-03-2007, 12:52 PM The problem with Rock N Roll pt 2 is that everyone else is doing it. At least the Ole song is Unique to us. However I like to see something more modern playing.
CaptainHowdy 10-03-2007, 12:54 PM Devils are working on a new song, I know for a fact they contacted Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society who is also Ozzy's guitarist to do something, don't know if they're going to use it.

1. A lot of teams have stopped using it because the NHL asked them if they would, didn't demand, just asked.
2. The Rockies were the first team to ever use that to celebrate scoring, so it's only symbolic for our franchise to use it.

Actually NO other sports stopped using it and some NHL franchise chose to follow suit. Dallas never stopped using it.
Rockies first ever to use it? I dont think so.
åboriginal 10-03-2007, 01:15 PM i cant stand that ole song. i seriously hope they figure something else out.

1. It is banned from the NFL. And yes, other teams did stop using it.
2. Really? Do you really want to go with this one...I've done so much research on it....here ya go sweetie!
In the US, the instrumental portion (Part 2) attracted most of the attention; it hit #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the years since, Part 2 of the song has often been played at various sporting events in Canada and the United States, particularly when the home teams scores (or wins). It was played first in a sport setting at Colorado Rockies hockey games in the late 1970s,[1] and it is believed that the Denver Broncos are the first NFL team to play the song during games.[2]

1. yes that is what I knew also. the NFL banned it, and NHL teams just followed suit and stopped using it, not all teams just some.
2. I stand corrected. I did not know that and thought different. My apologies. good research.

It was, but apparnently it is the Caps new goal song (they played it after they scored at their preseason game Sunday).

Where in any of my sentences did I say ALL teams stopped?
It's not good research...I googled it! Anyone can do that.
Mr Bojanglez 10-03-2007, 02:12 PM At least how they use it. In the original Bouncing Souls version it sounds alright, but they cut out parts and edit for the games. It sounds forced.
I LOVE rock and roll pt 2. I know, Gary Glitter is a peder-a$, and thats why we can't use it. I think its better if he keeps accumulating money while he sits in a Thai prison with no way of spending it.
I'd rather have whoomp there it is then the Ole song.... hmm, maybe not.
How about something we could raise the roof too :sarcasm: The Bruins are lucky, dropkick made TWO songs for them that they could use
Side bar, I'm sick of the "you're unbelievable" song

You my friend, are CORRECT!! He sold the rights in 1997 and no longer receives compensation for it.

basketcase78 10-03-2007, 02:47 PM Dear God.. anything but Ole again...
Get a cover band to cover Rock and Roll Pt II.
Play Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation.
Play Bro Hymn by Pennywise[my personal favorite].
Play Crowd Chant by Joe Satriani.
Just not.. Ole... It KILLS the excitement after a goal is scored.

Well because the idiots in the Devils management still think that Glitter gets the rights, even if a cover band did it, he would still get money. So, that's why that hasn't been brought. Believe me, I tried all angles when speaking with them!

Mr.Krinkle 10-03-2007, 03:23 PM Devils are working on a new song, I know for a fact they contacted Zakk Wylde from Black Label Society who is also Ozzy's guitarist to do something, don't know if they're going to use it.
This would be great, you got a source for this?
Zakk is actually from Jersey so that'd work nicely. What would be really cool is if they used "Fire It Up" as the entrance song.
Or maybe they're trying to get him to come do the National Anthem on opening night, he did it out in LA a few years back and it was awesome.
:yo:
x0xoaimeex0xo 10-03-2007, 03:28 PM ole! played when we played the flyers...so im hoping its our song this year. =) i like it.

My source works for the Devs, they just emailed Zakk and he said he'd love to do it. I thought maybe "Devil's Dime" off the new one would be good too if they changed the wording. No word yet if they'll use him, probably will just go with some lame stuff for the masses.

Ugh...I'd rather hear "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang than that song.
The whole Ole...or Jose (for Mets)...or whatever chant just got played out really quickly.
Game Breaker 10-03-2007, 04:22 PM I always yelled "you're gaaaaaay, you're gay, you're gay, you're gay" every game I went to. The song is terrible and needs to be changed.

Heck let's just rip off the Nike commercial and use the Promontory song from Last of the Mohican's soundtrack.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55BZ2gSsSmY
or from 300; check out the itunes store for 'come and get them'... that would be pretty cool for intro music as the team takes the ice.
Mr Bojanglez 10-03-2007, 04:49 PM We should do a local band for the song:
Jovi - Living on a Prayer (I couldn't even type that with a straight face)
Bruce - Born to Run
Misfits - Any song with "whooooa"
Bouncing Souls - anything but Ole
and, um... I can't think of anyone else right now. But I'm all about Living on a Prayer... cause I don't get enough of it when its closing time at the bar. I need it when my team scores. Jovi Jersey woooooooo!
pepe22 10-03-2007, 05:02 PM Am I the only one who feels the Devils stopped using it because the 218 guys added 'you suck' to the lyrics?

:biglaugh:
I’m with ya…stay in just about any Jersey bar long enough and you’ll surely hear that song by the end of the night. Even worse, there’s usually a pack of drunken girls that’ll get all excited when they hear it.
My personal pick for best Jersey artist would have to be Pete Yorn, though most of his stuff is too mellow for any serious consideration (though I wouldn’t mind hearing it during a stoppage instead of friggin’ “Who Let the Dogs Out”)…I want the sound guy fired on the spot if he plays that in the new building.
HBK27 10-03-2007, 05:10 PM Am I the only one who feels the Devils stopped using it because the 218 guys added 'you suck' to the lyrics?
I was thinking that too...though them saying it was nothing compared to the Redskins fans who did that - nearly the entire stadium of 90,000 would yell that there (not sure if they still use that song or not now though).

It kind of caught on with some other sections at CAA too, you could definately hear it on the TV broadcast, especially in the playoffs.
CaptainHowdy 10-03-2007, 05:34 PM Haha I thought you meant an article or something you read, pretty cool!

NO doubt about that, I was referring to the generic songs people are recommending, more commercial stuff. Zakk would be perfect for a barn called the ROCK!

The chorus part that goes :
This is ten percent luck, twenty percent skill
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure, fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name

Yes, if no R&R, then Crowd Chant is a good alterantive.
Ole sucks.
And why does it have to be a Jersey band/singer? Who freakin cares. Give me a good song not some POS.

OLE needs to go...

dude i was thinking the same exact thing yesterday, no joke. I second that notion completely. Brass Bonanza is amazing.
hearing the Blues still using an organ version of "When The Saints Go Marching In" just made me feel nostalgic for that kind of stuff. I'd love to bring it back realllllll old school.
