He's been practicing on the third line, per Gulitti's reporting.

he already did make the team, but there are scratches ya know. i would rather have madden on the 4th line than pandolfo

I think the lines for Thursday will be as so

Parise-Zajac-Gionta
Elias-Zubrus-Bergfors
Madden-Pelley-Asham
Pandolfo-Rupp-Clarkson

Matvichuck-Rachunek
Martin-Oduya
Vishnevski-Greene

its not going to be your stereotypical meat head fourth line though, the way i look at it is like 2 checking lines, but neither are stacked with either great defensive fowards and both have some grit on them, but they will be asked to produce more offense this year, and i think they will both get a decent amount of time

Clarkson-Pelley-Madden?

nah,
madden-pelley-asham
pandolfo-brylin-clarkson

although i think it would make more sense to have a natural center on the fourth line, like pelley or madden

No way Rupp plays over Brylin. If anything, Clarkson and Rupp are in/out of the line up for now. My big concern is who pairs up with Oduya if we're keeping the O D-man with the D D-man combos. Martin is too "O" to be pair with Johnny.(Oops, not "fouth-line talk").

Martin is our best defensive defenseman, so I don't think he's too "o".

here are the latest combos from monday as per gulitti:

Forwards: Elias-Zubrus-Bergfors; Parise-Zajac-Gionta; Madden-Pelley-Asham; Pandolfo-Brylin-Clarkson/Rupp.

Defense: Greene-Rachunek; Vishnevski-Martin; Matvichuk-Oduya; Mottau

Goalies: Brodeur, Weekes.

seems like clarkson or rupp will be scratched. quite frankly i don't see much sense in playing rupp over clarkson. we know what rupp is and what he can do. he is a career 4th liner. clarkson could possibly be more, maybe the next mckay, we don't know. we have to find out by playing him.

True and agreed, but if we're looking for him to carry the play more, Oduya is not the guy at the moment I want covering for him. Rather have Matty or White, if he were available.

I'm personally tired of Rupp 'cause he can tease on the rare occasion but I guess he's the lesser of last season's extra fwds evils. I hope Clarkson gets the more ice-time also and a Pando/Sarge/Clarson line I would trust them against most second scoring lines in the league. But Clarkson has to stay disciplined, sticking up for the team is great, but don't put your team down too often.

According to Rich Chere, the competition is between Rupp and Pandolfo, not Clarkson.

Clarkson will play right wing with veteran Sergei Brylin and either Jay Pandolfo or Mike Rupp.

I like Sutter and his direction, but playing Mike Rupp over Super Jay, thats just lunacy???

I hope this does not come to the fold....

For the most part, Sutter rules and I love these projected four lines immensely.

With one caveat... Mike Rupp never leaves the press box.

The fact that Jay "Selke Candidate" Pandolfo, an elite shutdown forward and penalty killer extraordinaire, is actually battling Mike "Sucks Balls" Rupp, a former and future AHLer, is beyond any and all comprehension.

Pando is one of our fastest and most versatile players, whereas Rupper is one of our slowest and least impactful (his mediocre fighting his only minor plus...) If Sutter is really committed to an uptempo style there can be no comparison, as the Ruppster is three strides slower and may commit more dumb penalties in a single game than Pandolfo would in an entire season.

What is he thinking???

That is pretty ridiculous. Also, considering Jay is a UFA soon, I feel like they need to do as little as possible to upset him (especially because I am sure his BFF Gomez wouldn't mind him coming to NY). I just don't see the decision to play Mike Rupp over him being a good thing.

If Rupp starts any game over Pandolfo, barring injury, I'd be furious.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, read the article correctly. It just implies those are the "fourth line bodies" not that Rupp is in direct competion with Pando. Come on guys, think about it. I'll be the first one to eat my words if, barring an injury, Rupp plays before Pando.

MoonDragn

Yeah personally I think Rupp will be rotated in whenever we need more grit and size, to soften up the opponents. Then pandolfo will get in there to finish them off.

He's doing great. He's gonna be on the 3rd line and probably getting more consistent minutes than when he was an Islander. But whether or not he stays there will depend on how he performs.
