Bergfors

He's having a good pre-season. Do you guys expect him to be a top 6 forward with some power play time for the full season is just while Langen is injured?

If he continues like this he might very well stay among the top 6. Langenbrunner is versatile. He can play on any of the lines so Langenbrunner might end up on the third line when he comes back.

On the other hand you can't argue with Langenbrunner's chemistry with Zajac and Parise, so they might be back together again. We'll just have to wait and see...

He will be top 6 while Langer is out, and depending on his performance he will stay there even when Langer comes back.

Depends on how well he plays, really. We're not sure where he's going to fit in yet.

What's nice is he's played well on both wings during the preseason so it gives us more versatility.

Honestly, I'd love to be able to make some combination like this:

Elias Parise Zubrus/Langs
Bergfors Zajac Gionta
Madden Pelley Langs/Zubrus
Pandolfo Brylin Clarkson/Asham

Or some variation with Parise going to C, Zubrus to RW, and Bergfors to LW

e: Elias Zajac Zubrus/Langs
Bergfors Parise Gionta might work better.

It'll be awesome having a second like this:

Parise- Zajac- Bergfors

The three 1st round draft picks all on one line.

I would love to have a first line like...
Elias-Zubrus-Langenbrunner

but then Gionta wont have a spot:(

As long has the rooks are playing to their potential, it's going to be good have the problem of having some extra pieces to the puzzle.

Elias-Zubrus-Bergfors
Gionta-Zajac-Parise
Madden-Pelley-Asham
Pandolfo-Brylin-Clarkson

I don't mind those lines, but things can change quickly when Jamie and Cam come back. Cam may not even play.

I'd like to see a

Elias-Zubrus-Bergfors
Parise-Zajac-Gionta
Madden-Pelley-Langenbrunner
Pandolfo-Brylin-Clarkson

I feel like Langenbrunner is the guy that Elias has the best chemistry with on the team.

oh i dont doubt the chemistry they share. i love langs and what he brings to the team, but for consistency purposes....i just havent seen langs show that he can be a threat every single night. hes got the tools, but its not his game. i know someone will be quick to post his numbers, still, i feel numbers aside....hes not a first liner. but thats just me.

I wish he played the same way during the regular season as he does in the playoffs, he would be a league leader in points.

He's doing really well actually, 17 pts in 14 games. Zajac is having a field day with Parise on the left and Bergfors on the right. Plus, at the rate they're going they'll probably end being more productive than the first line of Elias - Zubrus - Gionta. :sarcasm: It'd be pretty sweet if they all played as well in real life as they did in the game...

Yes Bergfors will get a chance this year. and he will do well. When I saw him play saturday night live, he looked very good. He is ready. Sutter really likes him and wants him to have a chance. Lou also said the same thing when I talked to him saturday night before the game. Lou and I talked for about 30 minutes saturday night about the team, the fans, and the arena.

I will post pictures from the game soon. Ive had a very busy weekend and not much sleep.

I actually wanna see Bergfors-Zubrus-Elias. See what they can do both on the off-wing.

I dunno about that. Bergfors already showed he can be good on the offwing. Elias may need a change since last season, offwing may help him a little.

Zubrus historically plays better at RW than C and with Bergfors showing an ability at LW and Elias being a puck control enthusiast anyway... The best combo IMO for those three is a line of Bergfors - Elias - Zubrus.

That would either work really really well or really really REALLY badly.

Bergfors looks like he will get a chance to play with Langenbrunner out indefinately. He may share sometime with Clarkson who I think should be in the line up as well. Both players will be good for the Devils. Bergfors to wear #12 this season and Clarkson gets greedy Gomez' #23 this season.

I don't know, the last time Elias was a center, the results weren't pretty. He wasn't as dynamic offensively and he wasn't that good at faceoffs anyhow. I think he's best at his natural position - left wing.

Could have been anyone's shot that hit him...and from what I read elsewhere on these boards, the shot actually deflected up to Whitey's eye off his own stick.

But this time it would be slightly different role for Zubie, because Patty would be in charge of playmaking. Patty doesn´t necessarily need to move to center. Zubrus will do the same job as he would playing wing: help out in the corners, make room in front and shovel loose pucks in, imho.

And most of all, I´m glad to see Bergfors get a shot. It must be great for him after difficult last season.

You know so far we haven't really seen Elias, Zubrus and Bergfors together on a line.

Since Elias has been out, other people have been playing on that line. So I'm excited to see how they click on Thursday.
