GDT: Devils @ Islanders, 7PMEaston 09-29-2007, 07:03 PM I'm not getting any sound on this game on CI Online. :madfire: Easton 09-29-2007, 07:04 PM Ah, there it goes. MoonDragn 09-29-2007, 07:08 PM looks like the islanders will have alot of young guys on the team tonight again. Dubie gonna be their goalie again. hope he gives gionta a few more early goals LOL. DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:13 PM CI online is being an ass for me right now and not working. MoonDragn 09-29-2007, 07:14 PM Looks like Gionta is gonna be great on Parise's line MartyOwns 09-29-2007, 07:16 PM ci not workin 4 me either..anyone have a diff link?? Devilswede 09-29-2007, 07:20 PM The lines: Pandolfo-Zubrus-Bergfors Parise-Zajac-Gionta Madden-Pelley-Asham Rupp-Brylin-Clarkson Greene-Rachunek Martin-Vishnevski Mottau-Matvichuk NJDeVsFaN 09-29-2007, 07:23 PM Where's the CI Link? DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:23 PM My CI is working now. Hmm, Elias being out is rather concerning. Hopefully they just didn't want to risk him aggravating his groin. Damn, Isles score. Devilswede 09-29-2007, 07:24 PM 1-0 Isles...Brennan. DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:24 PM Go to islanders.nhl.tv It's very odd - the voice of the PBP guy is coming out of my right speaker and the color guy is coming from the left speaker. Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 07:25 PM Aaah. Its not working for me. Who's in goal for the Devils? E_Godard 09-29-2007, 07:27 PM Aaah. Its not working for me. Who's in goal for the Devils? I think its a traffic issue, I can barely load pages.. Getting alot of image load errors. I noticed the site has been alot worse on weekends. NJDeVsFaN 09-29-2007, 07:27 PM K I'm at the main screen but nothing is showing, even clicking the center ice button doesnt work.. crashlanding 09-29-2007, 07:32 PM Graaa!!!! Stupid CenterIce isn't working too well. MoonDragn 09-29-2007, 07:32 PM Aaah. Its not working for me. Who's in goal for the Devils? Brodeur. That was a sneaking backpass tipped in shot. But it was cause one of our D-men didn't clear the puck and it got stolen. Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 07:33 PM Yeah. I had to refresh about a dozen times. It finally started working, I hope it doesn't stop in between. Hows Marty been? NJDeVsFaN 09-29-2007, 07:33 PM I don't see where its supposed to stream the game, all I see is past games. Im heading out in 5 minutes, so that should give atleast 1 person some bandwith to play with.. 1-1 Zubrus Unthinkable 09-29-2007, 07:36 PM 1-1. Zubrus on the PP. Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 07:36 PM Wooo! Zubrus on the PP! Looks like there are a lot of Devils fans there. DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:36 PM Score! Zubrus on the PP. Click on the Center Ice tab in the upper right (if you can get that screen to load, it's rather slow for me). MoonDragn 09-29-2007, 07:39 PM You guys need better computers LOL, its going really fast for me. But I have a pretty good connection and running a really fast computer. crashlanding 09-29-2007, 07:39 PM Well I got it to work just in time for the PP. Our PP looks FANTASTIC this preseason. Jason MacIsaac 09-29-2007, 07:40 PM I just caught the last of hte period...Brylin trying to beat dubbie high. Say what you want about the guy, but he's our best defensive d-man and he's a big body. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but ever day that goes by we hear more worse and worse news about him....:( DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:45 PM Man I'm concerned about White and his injury. Say what you want about the guy, but he's our best defensive d-man and he's a big body. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but ever day that goes by we hear more worse and worse news about him....:( I am VERY concerned about White. No news out of the Devils organization is generally very bad news. If we get him back I'll be thrilled. I'm also worried about Elias, though not nearly to the same extent. It's bad enough that one top 6 forward is out, but two would be a really big blow. MoonDragn 09-29-2007, 07:50 PM I'm running on a college-grade internet feed and a state-of-the-art computer, and I can't get it to start. In that case your college may be blocking the feed :( Alot of colleges block certain ports. I've also been reading the board since the beginning of last season. Quick question.. is anyone else having an issue with the sound on center ice for the Devils-Islanders game? I get sound for the rest of the games with no problem, but absolutely no sound for the Devils game. Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 07:54 PM Uhhh....great...no sound. NVM. DevilsFan38 09-29-2007, 07:54 PM Either the sound on my CI feed has stopped working, or the announcers have stopped talking (I suspect the former). Second period about to start. Nice. 2-1. jkrdevil 09-29-2007, 08:20 PM Anyone else watching four games at once and noticing the picture quality appears to be considerably worse on the Devils/Isles game? That's probably because the rest are TV broadcast where this game is only an internet broadcast in an AHL arena. Devilswede 09-29-2007, 08:26 PM Man Zajac can't win a a faceoff this preseason....it doesn't look like he's worked on that during offseason. He's really weak in that department....he loses EVERY single faceoff, not good. The PP is looking good... The rest? Meh.... Jason MacIsaac 09-29-2007, 08:27 PM Interesting period...A little too much special teams for my liking. The young guys are doing well IMO. Classic Devil 09-29-2007, 08:29 PM Interesting period...A little too much special teams for my liking. The young guys are doing well IMO. Lots of special teams, but then we've racked up 2 PP goals so I won't complain too much. I hope the PP is a strength. Game Breaker 09-29-2007, 08:30 PM The PP unit of parise, zubrus, gionta, rachunek, and greene looked very good and quick together. Nice to see that there isn't much passing like last season. Rachunek was letting shots go and that is how to generate chances. DevFan-RU- 09-29-2007, 08:32 PM I'd love for them to pot a few even strength goals. crashlanding 09-29-2007, 08:34 PM Lots of special teams, but then we've racked up 2 PP goals so I won't complain too much. I hope the PP is a strength. I feel like we've scored on every 5 on 3 this preseason that was over 20 seconds. Initiating the one timers from down near the corner is a fantastic adjustment rather than D to D. And allowing Parise or Gionta to one time it on a pass from the point is dangerous as well. I really don't remember a PP this preseason where I've thought "wow, that was terrible" when last year 2 out of 3 were terrible. Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 08:36 PM The PP does look much better. I'm glad Rachunek isn't afraid to fire the puck. I remember constantly yelling shoot at the tv last season. But I don't get why Zubrus assumed Gio's role of screening the goalie. Game Breaker 09-29-2007, 08:37 PM 4 out of every 3 powerplays were terrible last season...at least a lot fewer shins will be hit. crashlanding 09-29-2007, 08:38 PM The PP does look much better. I'm glad Rachunek isn't afraid to fire the puck. I remember constantly yelling shoot at the tv last season. But I don't get why Zubrus assumed Gio's role of screening the goalie. On a 5 on 3 Gionta can shoot it off the pass from Greene. Gionta's shot is quicker and better and Zubrus can park himself in front of the net and use his big body to screen without much resistance from the defense. Unthinkable 09-29-2007, 08:39 PM Greene and Rachunek seem to read one another really well. Devilswede 09-29-2007, 08:39 PM The PP does look much better. "6'4 and 220 Ibs vs "5'7 and 175 Ibs ? You tell me.... :) Semak20 09-29-2007, 08:39 PM Late to the fray, didn't know I could catch it on CI. Damn Isle jerseys are ugly. Semak20 09-29-2007, 08:43 PM Isles taking a lot of penalties = grit, according to the 'casters. :shakehead Dialamo 09-29-2007, 08:44 PM Any chance this game is on sopcast or radio? Marty's Bread Basket 09-29-2007, 08:51 PM "6'4 and 220 Ibs vs "5'7 and 175 Ibs ? You tell me.... :) Ehh...true. But I think Gionta would be quicker in deflecting shots. And I doubt Zubrus can jump. ;) Semak20 09-29-2007, 08:51 PM Any chance this game is on sopcast or radio? Mottau's been okay while Oduya's been awful. Game Breaker 09-29-2007, 09:17 PM Hm. I wonder who Martin's partner will be when the season starts...Oduya? Think about it, when they pair defenseman, there is usually one defensive D and one offensive D, so martin and oduya wouldn't be paired. I say martin and vishnevski or white when he comes back. fortheloveof666 09-29-2007, 09:55 PM not that this isn't a no-brainer for the most part but, overall: Corrente > Mottau I would have much rathered keep him as the 7th man than Oduya or Mottau. But we'll see, hopefully Lou et. al. proves me wrong with that decision. DevilBesideYou 09-29-2007, 10:00 PM Bergfors missed his last 3 shifts...two times Gionta double shifted and once Brylin took his spot...was he injured or benched? I say martin and vishnevski or white when he comes back. thats not always true devs4L 09-29-2007, 11:55 PM I know it's only preseason, and I don't want to speak too soon...but if Greene and Rachunek keep playing the way they're playing not many of us will be missing Rafalski. Greene had 6 points I believe while Rachunek had 4, not playing every game of the 6. Some players just click with certain teams. I'm hoping that's the case with Rachunek. Gotta love the performance on the power-play this preseason too. For Bergfors' age, the confidence he exudes on the power-play is pretty special. The Greene/Rachunek tandem on the point has been deadly and the scary thing is they've only played a few games together. Gionta looks like the 48 goal Gionta again, and Parise (with 8 points I believe this preseason?) looks like he won't fall to the pressure of surpassing last years performance. On a couple of occasions, seeing Vishnevski stand up a player crossing the blue-line with his head down nearly brought a tear to my eye... Last year puck-possession for and against was a major problem for the Devils...luckily...it looks as though those problems have been fixed, and now will rather be a point of strength for the devils. With the aggressive forecheck and bigger bodies, the days of constant pressure put upon us and little to no sustained pressure placed upon the opposition seem to be over. Also loved seeing Rupp/Clarkson/Asham sticking up for teammates and willing to drop the gloves. If you scan the Atlantic, this is going to be a necessary element. Don't know if it's the influence of Larry, or a new style in play, but considering there are a couple new additions on defense and 2 departures...can't say I'm that upset about their performance. Just off the top of my head, from what I saw, there weren't an abundance of chances given up, and overall I'm confident in their abilities and ability to improve. This is a team that will (yet again) catch alot of people by surprise. I'm confident in this group in every aspect..offensively, defensively, coaching, and of course in net. Can't wait till thursday!! :handclap: Game Breaker 09-30-2007, 12:01 AM thats not always true No need to restate the obvious, I said "usually" in my statement because usually that is what happens. Can't wait till thursday!! :handclap: I have to agree with you almost entirely there. The problem is I think Matvichuk has lost yet another step (and gained yet another year of age) hopefully he'll be able to shake out the cob webs and play solidly like he did in the playoffs. But overall he has not looked too well with the exception of a good dive he made last night to prevent a shot/pass in the defensive zone. But from what I've seen he's looked more flat-footed and slow than ever before and that's simply not going to cut it this season. Personally I think he should be paired with Martin. While in terms of Martin basically being our #1 guy now it might not make sense but overall I think that Paul possesses the skills to make up for Matty's lack of speed and he's highly intelligent enough to, in some cases, prevent others from capitalizing on his mistakes. Matty brings some physicality to the pairing, where Martin really doesn't play very physical defense, but overall you have two intelligent defensemen just one more capable than the other not to mention younger. I do see that working. Just my opinion though. Our Power Play was ultra aggressive last night, I couldn't have been any happier with it, I really couldn't have. They were passing the puck fast and making decisions just as quickly of where it was going and that's something we've lacked the past few seasons. We've passed the puck slowly and afforded the other team plenty of time to adjust and make the play. I was also very impressed by our ability to maintain the zone on the PP. The puck got loose after a few shots and we were able to fly to the puck, stick check, and get the puck free to cycle it again and generate some scoring chances. It is very clear that the puck possession ideology Sutter has is not only showing, but it's working in a big way. Sure we won 2-1 last night as opposed to the 6-1 beating we put on them a few nights back. But I don't think anyone should take credit away from Dubie. He's played quite well, and I really think he's gone from what was basically a 4th 'string' guy to a legitimate backup with the capability of playing at a moderately high level. Zach Parise WILL be on this years all-star roster. I'm saying it now.` Hellsempire 09-30-2007, 10:24 AM Nice win in pre-season by the Devils last night over the NYI.:handclap: Brodeur is a little banged up with his right shoulder as he hurt it with 9 minutes left to go in the second period, but will be fine.
