Thoughts On Starting On The Road

3 games are in Florida. When the Devs go to Florida, particularly Tampa, they usually stay at a spa. 3 games (NYI, NYR, PHI) require little travel. One game in ****tsburgh, one in Ottawa, one in Atlanta.

It's not so bad IMO.

It's not so bad IMO.

The distance isn't bad, but those are some brutal teams to start the season against.

yea but i think it will be a good test to the make of teh team, because of last year in teh playoffs how we got pushed around in the playoffs and now we are playing ottawa and tampa bay in the first 9 games so we will see how the team works out

True. Even if it doesn't work out so well, at least its out of the way and then we have our home opener :yo: I'm saying 3-6.

Haven't we always done better on the road than at home?

I would have to say after watching the super series between canada and russia, Sutter would want a 9-0 start and nothing less.

I actually like that we're starting off the season with a road trip (9 games is a little long, but oh well). Being on the road gives the team a chance to bond, and with all the new FA signings, rookies, and a new head coach it gives guys a chance to bond and get a feel for what the team will be like.

With the injuries, the roster turnover from the end of last season to opening night is huge. Up front Zubrus, Asham, Bergfors, Pelley, and Clarkson will probably all be in the lineup - that's almost half the forwards. And on defense Vishnevski and Rachunek are new, if Mottau plays he's another new face, and even Greene was only around for about a quarter of the season last year.

It's not that bad when you consider for the final 3 games of the road trip the can go play the game on the road and sleep in their own bed that night.
