I was watching ESPN news this afternoon and i got to see Barry Melrose and others talk about the up coming season. I dont really understand how people can talk so badly about the NHL. You never really see NFL commentators get on and talk about how horrible football games are to fans. I didnt like the comment on how there should be more games with scores like 7-4, then lets say 1-0. I guess someone should tell people at the world cup the nets are too small bc they have shutouts. On top of all that they make Crosbey out to look like a God. They put down small market teams, while commenting on how awsome the Rangers will be this year and how thats going to turn around the NHL.
I like Old Hockey better anyways. "Bring Back Tie Domi"

All you had to say was ESPN. The network that doesn't give a damn about anything that doesn't make them money...

No, I'm pretty sure they would. I just hate ESPN. Their coverage of the NHL (usually a box score about 2/3 of the way through Sportscenter), combined with the piss poor job they do with NASCAR is just sad. Even when they do have something, if it's not baseball, football, or basketball they just don't care. But maybe that's just indictative of the average American sports fan...

Eh, it's ESPN. So much that they do has been "molested" (I'd rather use another
term, but it'll come up as **** again) by their corporate shilling. Their professional
sports work is a joke.
On another forum, the ESPN Magazine article was brought up with supposedly really bad things that Gomez said. Not much of that, honestly, but it was a season preview type article written about the Rangers, and 95% of it was just a promo for
ESPN and a put-down on the NHL.
They're a partner in the cluster this league is slowly becoming. Bettman and co will chase around ESPN to the ends of the earth, and ESPN could care less. Of course,
this was a key point in an article about Drury/Gomez/Rangers? Guh?
LOL, actually, one of the few Gomez quotes was him putting over ESPN. But, if we're learned anything over the last few years, is that Gomez is a good guy and would put over rat poison to make you happy. I'm sure he'll tell VS how great *they* are when he's interviewed there for the first time. :)
BTW, if NFL announcers got too loud about the quality of the product, well, they wouldn't be announcing anymore. Look for ESPN's subversive color guys. Theisman
is out in East Jabib and Paul McGuire was sent out to college football and toned down.

I'm pretty sure Versus couldn't afford either of those. Higher scoring isn't going to do jack ****. Look at baseball -- games that go 2-1 or 3-2 don't hurt the game at all. Hockey is a fringe sport now. Let's just enjoy it for what it is. Ef Melrose and those ESPN idiots who want to destroy the grit of hockey and make it the friggin NBA. Ef 'em all.
