They just said on the Kings' broadcast that he dislocated his shoulder and would consider his options, which include season-ending surgery.

I saw him skate off all hunched over but I never saw what happened. Anyway, sucks to be the Kings trainer.

This guy has the WORST luck

Earlier this season he was hit by a puck while sitting on the players bench during a game
The puck was hit by a Kings player and missed most of the guys on teh bench and went straight for Palffy

And from what i understand he is a really great guy

Hope he recovers fast

Now, now.

The Kings have done some incredible things with the minor-league talent they're fielding - they certainly get a hell of a lot more out of their guys than we do out of ours.

This could break their backs, though.

Now they could catch us in the "standings". :(

Avery's such a biatch.

Does the old "pretend to fight and then turtle" thing to get Bertuzzi to drop the gloves, then when Bertuzzi backs off, Avery starts whacking him with the stick again.

Then he's dumbfounded when the Nucks are given a power play.

No playoffs for Queens if Palffy is out long term.

Dislocated Shoulder Might End Kings F Palffy's Season
Three-Time All-Star Sidelined Indefinitely, Might Have Surgery

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 8) -- The Los Angeles Kings learned Thursday that leading scorer Ziggy Palffy will be out indefinitely because of a dislocated right shoulder that might require season-ending surgery.

The injury occurred during Wednesday night's 4-4 tie at Anaheim, when Palffy tried to go on a breakaway in overtime and got tangled up with Mighty Ducks defenseman Todd Simpson.

Palffy, 31, has 16 goals and 25 assists in 35 games this season. He missed five other games with facial injuries after getting hit by a puck while sitting on the bench. The three-time All-Star has 318 goals and 671 points in 642 NHL games since breaking in with the New York Islanders in 1993-94.

Did you get prior written authority from the AP?

Palffy is one of the few Kings I like and a reason I sometimes watch their games. That sucks for them. Maybe one day they'll actually have a full and healthy roster because that trainer needs a serious vacation.

Here's a link (http://www.allducks.com/vid/2004-01-07-palffy-injury.wmv) to video of the incident.

Seems weird that his shoulder could be dislocated on that play. In any case, it's clear it wasn't dirty.

his stick got caught under one of our guys and got tangled, and it got pulled out of socket there??

Assuming it's his right shoulder. If it's his left, then it happened when he fell on it. I assume it's the right.

Thanks for the video link. It happened so fast, all I saw was Ziggy on the ice and then Brian Hayward, I think, saying that Ziggy was going off the ice holding his arm. I could see how Palffy's shoulder could be injured if he turned quickly to go up the ice while Simpson was still skating in the opposite direction.

It's strange how different writers spin things though. The AP writer says Palffy's stick got tangled up with Simpson, but the Times' writer says Simpson tugged at Palffy's stick. Looking at the video it doesn't look to me like Simpson intentionally grabbed Palffy's stick.

ya, shoulders come out real easy. i was just swinging a broom stick and i got my shoulder knocked out. from the jerk that was shown on the camera, that's easily an awkward position that would definatley cause a dislocation. not a dirty play by any means, just an unfortunate situation that just happened.

Now now. Just because Palffy plays for the Kings, doesn't necessarily mean he's a jerk. :teach:

With Straka's run of bad luck the past few years, I wouldn't be surprise if he is watching his step closely.

He said that he was showing the trainer how it happened in the dressing room and it happened again. Yech.

Next thing you know he'll be escaping from straightjackets to bilk all of his cop friends out of stolen krugerrands.

In the Kings game tonight Straka just took an accidental knee-to-knee hit in which his knee buckled inward. He went immediately to the dressing room.

I hope he's okay...jeez.

4-6 weeks knee injury. they're hesitant to admit it because this is so soon after palffy, but they keep saying, "we think it may be 4-6 weeks. but until we get our MRI results back, we won't know for sure."

they're just holding out before they release the news, hoping the depression would settle down a bit ig uess.
