It's a work in progress...Jason King looked good at the beginning of the pre-season...now Bobby Ryan is playing well.

I am loving the line combinations tonight, specially the top 2 lines.

Huskins drops the gloves...wrestles with Brown.

I knew I should have gone to this game. Looks like Ryan is making a statement to fly to London.

King definately showed flashes of 30 goal potential while in Vancouver, and he was doing great in Manitoba before his concussion problems. Plus he's familar with Carlyle I believe.

Ryan sounds like he's really clicking with Getzlaf however, lots of oppurtunities.

Maybe I should change my name back to Bobby Ryan Getzlaf, if tonight is any indication. Maybe they are starting to be a tandem to be reckoned with.

How does this team dominate the game against a team like Vancouver but not one like San Jose?

Not trolling here but you guys did see our line up right? 1 NHL D man and 4 NHL forwards.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

Anyway, glad Bertuzzi is healthy again. He sounds like he's moving better.

wow what a game so far for Ryan...4 assists tonight.

Holy crap. 17 powerplays? What the heck happened? And since when did we get penalized less than the other team?

And I think McDonald's our designated GDT maker for the near future.

Well, great game for everyone. Ryan with 4 assists! Wow. Hiller with the shut-out on 40 shots against. 5 fighting majors.

Any consensus on what line Bert will be playing on? Does this game affect that decision?

I think it might have an impact seeing as he's been good on every line he has played on, but tonight the Bertuzzi Getzlaf Ryan line was on fire. For the first time as well, Ryan really had a good game, so I think there is definately some good chemistry there.


However no one is really sure whether or not Ryan will make the final cut.

With the way they played tonight, it is obvious what the lines should be. We finally got groups to gel.

Bertuzzi-Getzlaf-Ryan (they dominated tonight)
Kunitz-Mcdonald-Perry (good chances - excellent speed)
Checking line (Neids, Moen, Marchant, Sammy)
Energy Line (May, Miller, Perros, Wirtanen, Carter)

What I am calling the BIG line (Bertuzzi, Ryan (r-I-an), Getzlaf) worked great together. They are all big guys and had so many chances. Kun, Mac and Perry are the speed line. They were the 2nd power play line all last season

On D, I personally dont like Kondratiev. He makes a lot of bad passes. Reminds me ALOT of Ruslan Salei. Plays well, but then makes bad mistakes. Is too offensive minded. Doesn't do the 'smart' thing, and forces things too often.

Hindy didn't play tonight.

Was at the game tonight, some thoughts:

Bobby Ryan made the 1st goal happen as he stole the puck twice in the offensive zone, Bert had a nice screen in front as well. He made very good decisions all night and clearly has very good vision. Ryan makes excellent passes and is a wizard when the puck is on his stick. He threw his weight around a bit tonight as well, but he needs to use it more along the boards. Also, his skating is not that bad. He didnt look out of place at all.

Vancouver's "tough" men were pretty girly. Mike Brown turtled on more than one occasion...the one with Moen was pretty embarrassing.

Jonas Hiller was spectacular, and I thought deserving of the 1st star.

Drats was good except for the one awful pass that sprung Morrison. Terrible decision.

Huskins was very good, his puck handling skills are underrated. Dipenta was Dipenta, which is good and bad. I thought he was solid but his play is extremely limited.

Drew Miller and Ryan Carter failed to impress me, other than Carter's pking.

Segal likes to hit but is pretty limited with the puck, slow with the puck as well.

Wirtanen looks exactly like Pahlsson, but doesnt throw his weight around and isnt as strong. Sammi needs to come back ASAP.
