Jerky Leclerc 01-06-2004, 02:30 PM There are two things I hate in this world. The first being candy corn. Who eats this stuff? And the second, the LA Kings. We need the points but more importantly, we need to protect our house. Lets go Ducks!
Ducks vs. Kings
Wed, Jan 7, 2004
Arrowhead Pond
Game Time: 7:30 pst
soya_sauce_chicken 01-06-2004, 03:02 PM Ducks layeth the Smack Down
Fighter 01-06-2004, 03:06 PM 4-1 Kings.
I hope Babcock will dress Burnett to beat them up at least, I wanna revenge for Sawyer!!! :madfire:
Healthy Scratch 01-06-2004, 03:36 PM Burnett's going to be mic'ed for the game, according to Fox broadcast last night. Should be interesting to hear what it sounds like when he kicks Avery's rump. :yo:
Lyons71 01-06-2004, 03:52 PM Burnett's going to be mic'ed for the game, according to Fox broadcast last night. Should be interesting to hear what it sounds like when he kicks Avery's rump. :yo:
I have a feeling Burnett won't fight anyone, but he will have pm's. Brennan will somehow sucker Burnett to think he's gonna fight and Burnett will stand there holding him...
Palffy turns the trick. 4-0.
Fighter 01-06-2004, 04:16 PM Brennan is still suspended I think.
Anyway Avery maybe will try to draw a penalty from Burnett, but if they fight, Avery is gonna get killed! :yo: Would be cool, I hate that punk.
I see more likely to happen a Norton-Burnett fight.
McDonald19 01-06-2004, 07:36 PM Brennan is definetly still suspended.
Norton vs Burnett is a given if they both play.
Avery probably wouldn't fight Burnett. Maybe Simpson will kick his @$$ instead.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-06-2004, 07:47 PM Is Avery even playing? Didn't he get into some kind of spat with Murray?
McDonald19 01-06-2004, 09:57 PM Is Avery even playing? Didn't he get into some kind of spat with Murray?
Murray healthy scratched Avery vs Dallas because of the 9 minute powerplay that Avery gave Phoenix in the previous game.
Murray probably already made his point and will now put Avery back in the lineup for this game.
Randall Graves* 01-06-2004, 09:57 PM Brennan is definetly still suspended.

Avery will only fight skill players,he doesn't have the guts to fight Simpson or Burnett...he'll probley try and fight Vinny Prospal.
Fighter 01-07-2004, 02:49 AM Avery will only fight skill players,he doesn't have the guts to fight Simpson or Burnett...he'll probley try and fight Vinny Prospal.
Prospal would kill Avery. :joker:
If Avery try to fight a non-fighter I think that even Sauer, Salei, Vish or Nieds would step in.
Simpson or Burnett are obsivious choices, but a good ass-whoopin on that punk would be welcome. :handclap:
soya_sauce_chicken 01-07-2004, 12:06 PM Prospal would kill Avery. :joker:

Sauer doesn't even know how to fight.. he fights like a wrestler.. he will just hold him, and then try to throw him on the ice.. lol
he needs to take some boxing lessons..

Okay, we're short of d-men, but I rather prefer Sauer hurt than Prospal. :D
Anyway I agree, Sauer sucks as a fighter.
Ducksfan2035 01-07-2004, 12:28 PM thats why u rarely see him fight..tho hes fought wut,3 times already??
soya_sauce_chicken 01-07-2004, 03:34 PM LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The Kings activated goaltender Roman Cechmanek and right wing Ian Laperriere before Wednesday's game against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
offa yahoo.com sports nhl.. too lazy to go back and get the link..
Randall Graves* 01-07-2004, 04:15 PM Simpson vs Lappy
Burnett vs Norton
Lets hope Mr.Bean thinks its the playoffs tonight!
Hockeyfan02 01-07-2004, 04:27 PM I'm just hoping from all the quotes in the paper that these guys bring the intensity level like they said would be in the building. This is their big rival and if they cant come out ready to play then they deserve to get beaten. Its at home so thats a good thing and Giguere is in net which has been a great thing lately, lets hope the other 18 guys help him out tonight witth some goal support. No prediction from me.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-07-2004, 04:44 PM Hey, I'll be there. I won't be making any noise, though.
I thought I might do a little parcheesi tournament after the game with lux.
Hockeyfan02 01-07-2004, 06:36 PM Ahlers is back. :handclap:
Jerky Leclerc 01-07-2004, 06:38 PM LETS GET READY.....TO RUMBLE!!!!
The Ducks need to win this game to turn their season around. This is a 4 pt game tonight.
soya_sauce_chicken 01-07-2004, 06:41 PM Huet vs Jiggy
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!~!~!~!
Jerky Leclerc 01-07-2004, 06:44 PM God damn Sauer. NO balls.
God damn Sauer. NO balls.
Another clean turnover from Salei... put that one on him.
soya_sauce_chicken 01-07-2004, 07:18 PM HOLMVIST!! :yo: :yo:
lux_interior 01-07-2004, 07:24 PM That second goal by the King's is all on Salei. On the PK, just dump the puck down the ice. Especially if you're a defenseman. Don't try to lead the rush. :madfire:
Holmqvist is the man. He was so wide open on that first goal. It looked like the Ducks defense gave the Kings some pointers on defensive zone coverage. He had about 3 seconds without a person in sight. On the replay, I don't remember even seeing another King skater on the screen.
Good period by the Ducks. Neat little backdoor pass by McDonald to Fedorov.
And I am the parcheesi MASTER. Booger doesn't stand a chance against me.
Fighter 01-07-2004, 07:43 PM Finally Holmqvist is showing something. Hey, in one game has surpassed Chistov in goals. :handclap:
Come on guys, keep it on!
Snap Wilson 01-07-2004, 07:53 PM Great game so far!
Fighter 01-07-2004, 08:04 PM Damn it! Don't tell me it was Avery...
lux_interior 01-07-2004, 08:12 PM I like our chances with the way choke-matic is playing. It took him an entire period to get up on that one play they kept reshowing.
Fighter 01-07-2004, 08:37 PM 4-3 Kings.
Malkin, come to daddy...
soya_sauce_chicken 01-07-2004, 09:06 PM what was up with Jiggy??
he ahd his GREAT moments, and then he has the 2 open net goals...??
glad we came away with at least 1 point..
190Octane 01-07-2004, 09:07 PM Disappointing game. We really could've used the 2 points and LA getting none. Another point closer to the playoffs though so it's ok I guess.. Leclerc back soon hopefully.
Fighter 01-07-2004, 09:08 PM 4-4.
Well, I expected a loss so it could be good, but this team can't keep a lead, damn it.
Randall Graves* 01-07-2004, 10:02 PM I enjoyed the ducks battling back tonight not once, not twice, but THREE times.
Yes they did give up the tying and go a ahead goals but all season we've seen this team not battle back from getting down late, while it wasnt a greatly played game from the ducks side they battled and managed a point.
I thought Prospal,Fedorov,Niedermayer,McDonald,Holmqvist,Sim pson and Vishnevski really played well tonight.
Now we must get ready for perhaps the toughest challenge of the season and the Vancouver Canucks.so much for Lyons 4-0 prediction w/ziggy having a hattrick.

I agree with the part about battling. I must say, at the risk of jinxing the ducks, that they have been working harder and  playing better defensively.
Prospal did look good tonite. He made some good passes, including the one to Fedorov on the third goal (I mistakenly said it was from McDonald earlier). And he made some other real good setups. Just couldn't cash in.
Neidermayer should have shot the puck in the third on the two on one with, I think, Rucchin. He tried to feather a pass over. With the ice conditions in the third period that puck has about a 10% chance of lying flat. And about a 75% chance of hopping over Rucchin's stick. Shoot the puck.
Vancouver's a good, physical team. As long as the Ducks compete and battle and work hard, you've got to like our chances.
McDonald19 01-07-2004, 10:18 PM Nice to see Holmqvist finally get his first (and second) NHL goal.
:handclap:
Randall Graves* 01-07-2004, 10:22 PM Niedermayer should have had a goal or two. I am very happy with the ducks effort these ties will start turning to wins as long as they keep working hard.
I was disappointed that there were no fights though.

You're killing the rally.
lux_interior 01-07-2004, 10:30 PM Yeah, I didn't think the game was nearly as physical as I thought it would be. Probably both teams needed the win so bad that they didn't want to risk putting their team at a dis-advantage. There was hardly any after the whistle pleasantries.
A little disappointed in that, but a good game. I would have like to have seen Simpson vs. Laperriere. But, we would have had to go with 5 defensemen for at least 5 minutes, so it's just as well he didn't go.
Randall Graves* 01-07-2004, 10:37 PM You know...the last 5 games or so Todd Simpson has been really good, now that he's playing more he is playing much better.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-07-2004, 10:47 PM The Ducks played fine once they cleared the zone, but we must be the absolute worst team at clearing the zone.
The power play goal...why the hell does it take 3 people 3 feet away from each other to skate the puck up ice when you're shorthanded?
Otherwise I was pretty happy. Rucchin returned to his pussboy ways, and he was pretty determined to give up that 4th goal on what turned out to be an awful shift, but I was happy with everyone else.
CFOB = parcheesi Jesus
That's the kind of Jesus I am. The parcheesi kind.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-07-2004, 10:54 PM Also, we're not going to make the playoffs.
Once again we got one point when we needed two.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-08-2004, 12:01 AM Y'know, this game was kind of our season in microcosm.
We sucked, and then we were average, and then we sucked some more, and then we were pretty good, and then we collapsed, made a last gasp effort, and everyone left feeling unfulfilled and disappointed.
Fighter 01-08-2004, 04:10 AM Also, we're not going to make the playoffs.
Once again we got one point when we needed two.
Not to seem pessimistic, but I think to things:
1) I agree with you, we are NOT going to make the playoffs.
2) Every point we get bring us right in the middle between make the playoffs and have a chance for a high pick. In this way we won't make the playoffs + don't pick a possible star in the next draft. Disappointing.
soya_sauce_chicken 01-08-2004, 07:34 AM Chistov looked good so did Phallson..
Nieds.. what can i say.. i'm dissappointed.. he could have had those 2 easy empty net goals..
we should have won that game..
Vish looked solid...
we need to clear our own boards better
Pwnasaurus 01-08-2004, 07:43 AM I watch a bunch of other games on Center Ice and I can honestly say that our team is the only one that has this much trouble getting the puck out of their own zone. I hold my breath everytime they try and simply skate or pass out of their own end. It's borderline ridiculous. I'm going to back and watch some of the playoff games from last year and compare, it can't be all because we're sans Ozolinsh for God's sake.
kingbrath 01-08-2004, 12:36 PM 4-4.
Well, I expected a loss so it could be good, but this team can't keep a lead, damn it.
I know how that feels being a Kings fan

well if we don't make the playoffs that would mean we would get a pick in the top 14.....I still think we need a defenseman. We would need a pick in the top 5 to get Barker, if not Wes O'neill from Notre Dame looks awesome too and we most likely could get him if barker is taken allready.
Spankatola Jamnuts 01-08-2004, 03:52 PM As of right now we'd pick 6th, so we have a shot.
Jshibley 01-08-2004, 04:14 PM As of right now we'd pick 6th, so we have a shot.
and the way we are playing.....i like our odds of getting barker.
Fighter 01-08-2004, 08:09 PM and the way we are playing.....i like our odds of getting barker.
Me TOO!!! (I just read before your post about the top d-men available)
A "good" note is that Carolina and Florida (even Chicago!!!) had won tonight. This means that the Ducks are behind them in the standings, at 25th.
Washington and Columbus, along with PIT are battling for the last place.
