I dunno about best diner but on my way home from Newark airport I took rt 22 and stopped by this diner in Union. I think it was an Americana or something similar. Anyway they had a lobster special that night for $13. It was the best lobster I've ever had. Most diners screw up lobster cause they don't know how to clean and cook it right. This place did it perfect.

That is THE skankiest diner in the state of New Jersey. BLEH!!!

I generally don't like diners late at night because of all the vampire freaks and other dark creatures of the night that hang out there. You know, the fat chicks with like 4 different colors of hair and psycho kids in trench coats and wool hats when it's like 95 degrees outside.

To be honest, I haven't been to that diner in probably 12 years. But back in its day, it was a really good diner with a lot of characters hanging about.

Well, there are tons of diners around me. The OP Diner, in Point Pleasant, is by far and away the best I've been to in NJ. It's about 30 minutes from my house (and there are probably 30 diners within 15 minutes from me). Been to a lot of the North Jersey ones mentioned in here a lot and none of them come close to the OP.

Also, would you consider Broadway a real diner? It's more of a themed restaurant. Besides the fact that they don't call it a diner themselves...

Used to be one in Bradley Beach. I loved that place. Their waffle fries are fantastic.

Here are diners that I usually walk out satisfied:

Empire Diner on Route 46 in Parsippany, good food and clean
Tick Tock Diner on Route 3 in Clifton
Elmwood Park Diner on Market Street in Elmwood Park
Galaxy Diner on St. Georges Ave (Route 27) in Rahway

Diners that I do not like that much:

Dover Diner on Route 46 in Dover (Morris County) Worst one ever, my buddy once ordered roast beef and there was rope in the meat
Paul's Diner on Route 46 in Mountain Lakes, good for coffee and fries, but not much else
Dutchess Diner in Metuchen; average at best

Hahaha, yeah every diner has some ****** items.

I've never had even a "mediocre" meal there. Everything has always been tops. But I also usually get the normal diner food. I don't really stray too far off of the norm, haha.

Another few diners to give props to: The Rainbow Diner in Brick. And the Four Seasons Diner in Eatontown.

There's also one in New Brunswick I was at not too long ago on Easton Ave that I can't remember the name of that was good.

Great place, but that wasn't even the best one in EB. The other diner in town, The Colonial (also on Rte 18; across from the old Meyer's plaza) was always packed. We used to spend late nights there after going out in New Brunswick or the old go-go joint in EB, JK's (we're talking late 1980s- early 1990s)
There was a real good one off Rte 1 in Princeton (The Princetonian, perhaps?) too.

We don't as many diners up here in CT, nor are they as good.
