Suglobov got called up tonight, hopefully he'll spark some life into this team. HFBoards is having problems all day, my guess it's Canadian tears that's causing all the technical difficulty. Big day for USA Hockey and big time congrats for Zach Parise and his team for the incredible win today! Couldn't be prouder.

EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- The Edmonton Oilers try to stay perfect on their six-game road trip when they visit the New Jersey Devils on Monday.

The Oilers, who are 2-0-1 in their last three contests, have won the first two games of their trip, including a 4-3 triumph at Chicago on Sunday in which they rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Ethan Moreau scored the go-ahead goal 55 seconds into the third period for the Oilers, who have won three in a row on the road and back-to-back games for the first time since a four-game streak from November 13-20. It was Moreau's first goal since November 18.

Rookie Jarret Stoll and Ryan Smyth scored shorthanded goals during the same penalty in the second period and Edmonton killed all four power plays by the Blackhawks. That ran Edmonton's penalty-killing streak to 20 chances over five games.

The Devils are 0-2-1 over their last three contests, losing at Nashville on Saturday, 3-2, in the finale of a four-game road trip.

Patrik Elias and John Madden scored for the Devils, who are opening a three-game homestand.

The Devils have not lost two games in a row since October 18-22.

Edmonton beat New Jersey here in their one meeting last season, 6-3.

Welcome back Turner Stevenson. Way to get involved immediately. Devils have missed his spark for a long time now.

I fully take blame for the mini slump so far........I've been out of town at my folks place and they don't have Center Ice. Since the whole universe revolves around me, the Devils should win tonight :p

Madden on a partial breakaway dinks it off the right post. 2-0 was right there for the taking. Devils looking a whole lot better in this 1st period then they did against Nashville.

Yeah Burns has Suglobov-Larionov-Brylin together as a unit. Suglobov drew a penalty with some good skating behind the Oilers net.

I don't want to upset any Suglobov fans but I wouldn't be surprised to see some teams scouting Alek and some other young Devils as possible acquisitions. Other than Parise who I'm sure everybody will be asking about now, I think everyone will be available for the right deal.

NJ really need the win tonight. Listening to the game, it seemed NJ was really coming on hard in the 3rd. I don't know why the guys wait till the 3rd to get the mojo going. :dunno: Brodeur stole this game with the save on York. He doesn't make the save, it's 3-1 Oilers = gg. Hope the guys build up to the game this Sat. vs. Toronto. Nice to see Stevenson back in there. :)

Edit: It sounded like Suglobov played well for his debut.

What is with this NHL schedule? The Devils already have played the fewest games in the league and now they don't play again until Friday. What were these schedule makers doing when they came up with this. Geez.

In honor of this win, I have switched to my "happy" avatar.

When Madden didn't score on that breakaway, I thought...here we go again.
I was concerned until Brylin scored, then I just hoped to hang on for the one point. Mind you, I was quite elated when Elias scored to shore up the two points.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Reuniting Patrik Elias and Scott Gomez in overtime gave the New Jersey Devils something equally memorable -- a victory.

Elias set up Sergei Brylin's tying goal late in the third period and scored on a nice setup by Gomez 41 seconds into overtime to give the slumping Devils a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

.
Devils coach Pat Burns admitted to gambling in the overtime, using three forwards to start.

"Pat called that play, and it worked out," Elias said. "It gave us a chance. We controlled the puck great. It looked like we were on a power play."

Gomez did all the work on the winner, skating the puck through center ice and into the right faceoff circle. Once inside the circle, he looked for Elias.

"It's been awhile since we played together," said Gomez, who also set up Stevenson's first-period goal. "I was thinking about going above the guy's stick and remembered Patty also told me: 'I'll act like I'm going wide and cut in.' That's what he did. It's an old play from '99, or is it 2000."
