Continental Airlines used an "opt-out" in its contract to break its deal with the NJSEA for the naming rights of the former-Brendan Byrne Arena.

What allowed them to take the opt-out? The Devils leaving of course!

Zoffinger (d-bagg in charge of the NJSEA) says they will get a better deal because people will want to put their name on the swamp...

Though, I doubt it.

I have half a mind to delete this...just because I was coming here to post it. I was going to go with a more dramatic title like "CAA No More."

I bet it will be called something stupid like "Xanadu Arena" I doubt they can lure any big corps. into a deal with the Nets having one foot out the door.

Well... with "CAA No More", you would confuse people and make them think they'll be blowing it up! :)

David Byrne should buy the rights so it could be the "David Byrne Arena".

Good! I actually like Continental and am glad to see they're no longer going to be associated with that piece of crap.

Blimpie rocks! I don't know about the ones in gas stations or elsewhere, but the original one in Hoboken makes great subs.

I don't see a company that big buying the rights though...maybe something more along the lines of "Fountains of Wayne Arena".

The new arena name will have something to do with Xanadu...

I could really care less though. NJSEA sucks. It sucks I still have to deal with them, with my Giants Season tickets, thank god I have a parking pass for those games.

That's part of the point. ;) According to the NJSEA, the Prudential Center won't be ready for opening night.

Okay....well at least I know that! Don't worry, your posts are much more intelligent than the person that posted that!

According to this article (http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/jersey/index.ssf?/base/news-8/1187757938199720.xml&coll=1) from today's Star Ledger, they already have some sponsors lined up, "the sports authority's executive director, George Zoffinger, said four sponsors already have said they were interested in buying the naming rights at prices higher than what Continental was paying. "

I'm wondering just how much of that is him trying to drum up interest, they had a sweet deal with Continental and with ZERO major sports, I don't see how anyone in their right mind would pay more than 1.3 mil per year for rights.
