I think you have to take Andy Greene off of the list as he will be a top 6 defenseman next season. He is no longer a prospect. He is an NHL player.
Also, David Clarkson and Rod Pelley are borderline NHLers. Both could make the Devils in 2007-08 so they have to top the list. They are closer to the NHL than anyone on the list.
The rest of the players are not ready to make the NHL just yet. Some will never play for the Devils but may make it onto an NHL roster in the future.
Okay, just my 2 cents. Later...;)
Devils9789 08-21-2007, 01:39 PM IMO i really dont think Pelley is that good at all.
Niedermayer21 08-21-2007, 01:42 PM Rod Pelley is more NHL-ready than anyone with the exception of David Clarkson. I did my rankings based on who will make the Devils roster the soonest. If you are a Devil, like Andy Greene, you are no longer a prospect.
Thanks for the feedback!!!
Darius Dangleaitis 08-21-2007, 02:12 PM I agree with your 6 through 20, and if you were judging the top 5 by NHL-readiness, I think you're right on with the exception of Frazee, who seems to be 4 years off at least.
I'm not sold on Pelley either. Not saying he sucks, but he did absolutely nothing last year that shows that he is our next great 3rd line center.
dkball7 08-21-2007, 02:27 PM Well thats one awful list. Who cares if they're more NHL ready? Was Cam Janssen a better prospect than Zajac last year?
topshelf20 08-21-2007, 07:11 PM Wild fan here..Also a Gopher fan..
I watched many of the Gophers games, being a fan, last year. With Frazee, you're getting a solid goaltender, but one that needs to mature A LOT. I say you have 3-4 years before he is a steady (backup/starter?) goalie in the New Jersey organization..
slackerracker 08-21-2007, 07:36 PM don't worry topshelf we've got Brodeur for the next 3-4 years so Hopefully he'll mature by then

Okay -- if this list is based on "NHL readiness" it is a pretty F'd up list. Having Jeff Frazee, who is many years away from any NHL action, 5 spaces ahead of Barry Tallackson, who already played in the NHL-- TWO SEASONS AGO -- pretty much throws this list out the window.
And having Mark Fraser, by all accounts our first defensive call-up, who has already seen NHL action, #13a -- 9 clicks behind Matt Corrente, who will likely play in juniors next season, as well as behind Tyler Eckford and this years two draft picks, who are all nowhere near NHL ready, makes even less sense. If this is based on "NHL ready", Fraser is Top 3 for certain.
Romano ahead of Vrana into the NHL, not likely...
And what is up with "18a & 18b" -- one being a Russian sniper, the other a North American goalie prospect -- sharing a number? Linking Fraser and Malmivaara in one listing, although wrong headed, at least makes some sense on the surface, as they are both "stay at home" defensemen... But somehow Zharkov and J. Parise are in some sort of a developmental dead heat in your mind? That is just retarded. Why not make this your Top 22 prospects or drop two guys off the list?
Or better yet, why am I bothering? Terrible list.
arcticwinter 08-22-2007, 02:06 AM it'll be interesting to see how pelley progresses.
