I would also add in most Oiler fans defense that many of our posters in that thread noted that there is no way that NJ would trade Martin + a big name for Horcoff + 2 prospects as Eklund postulated. What we did was go over a few possibilities but the conclusion by most of the level-headed fans was that the Devils wouldn't do it (it being most of the proposals).

That is the only player on Edmonton's roster I would trade Gionta for and I would be fine with a straight up trade. However, realizing Edmonton has just acquired Pitkanen this summer, it makes zero sense for them to trade him right away.

Most Oiler fans as Cloned has already said have agreed that this makes no sense for the Devils. All these trade "proposals" were speculation on what Eklund said, that it would be Martin and a "big name" player for Horcoff and two prospects. Oiler fans didn't dream this up, they were just speculating. It's summer, theres nothing else to talk about :dunno:

I believe it was a joke by an Oiler fan in reference to when Lowe traded down with New Jersey so they could draft Pouliot, and JFJ with the 2nd they got from the devils.

don't shoot the messenger, not my proposals. i had opinions on these proposals, but wanted NJD's as well too
when trade proposals happen on the oilers board, its always some variation with schremp+horcoff . when eklund says 2 prospects, of coarse, its 2 of the most overrated ones in schremp and jaques. when it says "big name prospect" its funny that there was no mention of gagner+cogliano , instead, its the 2 ones we want to dump because schremp is terrible defensively and can't skate, and jaques has played something like 40 games so far and hasn't had a point yet

ive seen shremp play in the minors on many ocasions and he is not really that great, he obviously has great stick handleing skill
