What do you guys think are the chances he takes the 4th line center job over?
Assuming he can stay healthy and what not I hear he's a decent two way player and an excellent leader. I don't know much about this Jari Viuhkola guy but everyone here seems to be high on him. You think it will come down to these two guys and maybe a Rod Pelley. Just looking for your thoughts. Me personally would like to see what Vrana's got.

I would like to see him get a shot too, but I think he'll be spending at least another season in Lowell. Brylin, Pelley, or Viuhkola will most likely be centering the fourth line any way.

I'd like to see him get a cup of coffee at the NHL level this upcoming season. But I have a gut feeling he won't be with us for long. I see him as one of those guys that gets traded in package deal at the deadline for an upgrade. Who knows though maybe he'll start tearing up the AHL. Wouldn't want to trade him then of course. That would be sweeeet.:)

The chances are very slim that he even gets a callup. I can't see Vrana playing a "filler" role a la Clarkson or Pelley did last year. The same goes for Bergfors. I'd rather have those two playing top minutes in Lowell than 4th line minutes in the NHL. Vrana will probably get a legit shot in 08-09, assuming he keeps improving.

I love how some people had this bum as our 1st line center when he was signed.

Bum? Only 22 years of age, two years in the minors and already wearing an 'A' down in Lowell.
He's going to be an NHLer sooner rather than later and he'll make an impact too. I don't think anyone had him as our 1:st line centerman when we drafted him. We were all very well aware of his capabilty and his future role.

There is not alot of room in New Jersey right now for our young players....I'd imagine these guys are going to have to be injury call ups to get a shot....
I mean Elias-Gionta-Parise-Langenbrunner-Zubrus-Zajac will comprise our top 6 with nearly 100% Certainty.
Pando and Madden will be on the 3rd line....So your talking about 4 open spots 1 on the third and 3 on the 4th...
Brylin and Asham will fill 2 of those 4 with 100% certainty.
Rupp signed with NJ with the expectation of an expanded role in New Jersey, you've go to imagine he is in the plans for the 4th line.
Clarkson seems more than likely to have that fianl spot...
So its going to be tough...You'd think that there will be some fierce competition in trainging camp...Clarkson, Vrana, Pelley, Tallackson, Will Bergfors be there? How does Marshall and Viuhkola fit into the mix???
Then there is always the guy that has the "surprise" training camp that makes you raise an eyebrow--should be exciting!

Conte was quoted as saying the kid needs to have a good year in Lowell. Our best hope for him is to be another Sarge and that would be pretty good in my opinion.

Agreed. I think his ceiling right now is a two-way guy who can pop in 15 goals with 20 assists as a checking line winger.

I hope he gets shot. Everytime I've seen him he seems like a hard working kid. I like the Brylin comparison. Though that seem a bit too lofty.
