What does everybody think of this guy? how much would he ask for? I know he has been very injury prone that past few years but he is a good threat when healthy.

We have more than enough 3rd / 4th liners...I think Allison is done for anyway.

He also had personal issues last season, so he's a bit of a head case. I'll pass.

Actually, a healthy & motivated Jason Allison would be a tremendous asset to our offense.

Anybody who knows they will be playing for Lou and the Devils would know they need to personally clean up their act and learn how to become a team player before they even set foot on the ice here. So if he would ever get here, which I doubt, I would imagine that Lou has read into him well and knows that he is serious at restarting his career and going on a mission to win a Cup.

He would be a typical Lamoriello reclaimation project, along the likes of Jason Arnott, Bobby Holik, Andrei Zyuzin, Oleg Tverdovsky, just to name a few. Lou has had both success & failure at bringing in highly touted & extremely talented players, some of which were known as head cases, who just needed a change of scenery to excel and jumpstart or re-establish themselves.

The only way he would be here is if he signs a 1-year contract for only like $1 million or less, similar to Eric Lindros' 1-year deal with Dallas.

I think it would be worth it to take a chance. We still need a big, North American #1 Center.

Allison is nowhere near a #1 centre.

yea i would much rather have zubrus play 1st line center than allison and there is no way he is going to play 2nd or 3rd line center and we have way too many 4th liners

for this offensively-challenged team, he would be.

You can get him for a song in NHL 2K7 as a free agent. Just throwing that out there.

I'd love to have him too, but I hear he's still on his way off the ice from his last game with the Leafs two years ago. (old joke, still applies)

Allison is probably close to the last guy I'd want on the team (up there with Roenick and Amonte).

Slow as molasses, injury prone and a huge liability on the defensive side of the puck. Perfect fit.:shakehead

Slow as molasses in January running uphill.

NO. PLEASE NO.
There is no place for him on this team, and if there was, I still wouldn't want his old, slow, injury prone body in a Devils jersey.

Lets please get rid of this thread. There's not a snowball's chance in hell that we are getting Jason Allison. It's of waste of you time to even talk about it.

Lets please get rid of this thread.

Why? Someone posted an opinion and we have responded. You ruin the flow of the thread when you post that.

And for the record, I'd rather not have Jason Allison, or even Dainius Zubrus for that matter.

Why do we need a North American?

they usually bring a certain grit and hardness that europeans dont, but thats not really the case that much anymore

I really doubt JA is going to find a team for that matter, he most likely is doen. At any rate like most said we really dont have room for him or anyone else, we should focus with what we have and try to create chemistry which is going to be the real key.

If anything we could upgrade with 3 of our 5-6 guys and a prospect for a #2-3 guy, or at least try to pick up a pending good UFA D-man at the deadline(this in my eyes and everyones else's is going to be the move if any for this season)

i agree, but as you are saying that quaility is slowly fading or becoming less evident with euro's in recent years adding depth to their game, and russians adise from yashin and kozlov losing the lazy ways of old

Zubrus plays with much more grit than the North American he is replacing.

gomer was fiesty and never really shied away from conners/scrum...but zubie really likes to throw his body, much to playing so young with the phyiscal flyer teams of the 90's. I think he will really be a postive for us
