dzanimal16 08-17-2007, 02:48 PM Earlier this week a source told me to pay close attention to the Devils. I have been hearing that the Devils had plans to make a major impact trade this summer, and that the first thing that would have to happen would be for Martin to sign. Now that he has this week, it could get very interesting...NJ- needs alot...They need to replace Rafalski and have never replaced Niedermayer. They also need a playmaker and power play help. They could make a move with Vancouver or could try and do a deal that I have heard talked about today. A deal to bring Jovo or Morris to NJ. They also could look to make an even more major move...
Still working the phones today....chasing the Vancouver rumours, seeing about the Devils and Phoenix

Trade#5 08-17-2007, 02:56 PM I mean seriously, what has this guy told us that we don't know. His comments are so vague- yes there is a possibility ANYONE can be dealt, so what he does is pick a few names and puts e#s after them. AND THEN he has the nerve to tell us about his annoying life and how he's getting off planes from trips and how there is always more to come. I don't care what he is doing with his day, and if he doesn't have time to report rumors how does he have the time to write stupid 'more to come' messages. He's a bum.
Just ignore Eklund and hope other people follow your lead:teach:

Quoted for the truth. If everybody will stop reading him and just ignore him he will go away.

Back in Finland itīs so damn dark. Oh wait, itīs nightime (e4)
devils1983 08-17-2007, 04:46 PM You people have no idea what you are talking about....Eklund is a very reliable source for hockey movements (e-10) ;)

hahahahaha:biglaugh:
BigBully4 08-17-2007, 05:59 PM And he's a Flyer fan to boot, so take it for what it's worth. "The Devils need a lot."
It's like Lou said after Holik left, "If anyone is painting a negative picture of the Devils for this upcoming season, they better get a different paintbrush."
Something like that. Either way, nothing is happening. Although Jovo in a Devils jersey? I'd order the No. 55 within minutes.
Al Trautwig 08-17-2007, 06:02 PM I mentioned it a week ago that Morris could be a good addition because I don't believe you'd have to sell your shirt to get him, wait a second..... am I Eklund? Seriously Morris is a good complete defenseman. Id trade for him in a heartbeat
Gunnar Stahl 30 08-17-2007, 06:12 PM The Devils have had some talks with the Oilers in the past 24 hours in a move that would send Martin and a "big name" to Edmonton for Horcoff and two big time prospects. Edmonton would also then move one of their current D to Boston....at least that is one scenario that was painted by a trusted source.
that was also taken from hockeybuzz
crashlanding 08-17-2007, 06:45 PM Edmonton and "big time prospects" are mutually exclusive. No offense to Edmonton fans, but big Ron does not draft very well.

True. But why should he when he can let them develop and then pay exorbitant salaries for them when they hit RFA status. Brilliant.
coloradorockies80 08-17-2007, 07:08 PM you do not sign a player to a multi-year deal and then trade him immediately. Especially when the player choses to give up UFA years to remain with the team. The devils already have 7 D. While upgrading would be nice its not going to happen at least before the season starts. White, Martin, Greene are not going anywhere, oduya is very unlikely to go anywhere, and given what happened with matvichuk last year it would be flat out wrong to trade him unless it is requested. Rachunek and vishnevsky were just signed as UFAs so will not go anywhere, at least till the season starts.
coloradorockies80 08-17-2007, 07:09 PM The devils were not willing to pony up for rafalski, there is no way they are going to shell out for jovo who is past his prime and injury prone.
Alcoolique 08-17-2007, 07:11 PM You can hate Eklund for the Rumours he's making..(Which I hate him a lot.)
But you can't deny his love for Hockey, Which we should all respect that.
:)
coloradorockies80 08-17-2007, 07:17 PM Given these coments i dont think martin is going anywhere:
"I want to be in New Jersey..."It never came down to entertaining the [qualifier]. We did talk about doing a longer [deal] down the road." paul martin , NY POST
"I want to be in New Jersey. I like the way things are run from management all the way down to the players," Martin said. "It's a good group of guys and you know you're going to get a chance to win every year. We were looking to do a long-term deal the whole time. Entertaining [unrestricted] free agency, that was an option, but we really didn't talk about it too much."
Although the sides also talked about doing a longer deal, Martin said, "we felt that three [years] was the best for now." Bergen record northjersey.com

Yeah he loves it so much he'll stir up untrue noise just to let you know he's there. Very respectful indeed.

Not saying he doesn't love hockey, but what you really see with "Eklund"
is a successful attempt by someone on the "outside", to get to the "inside".
He (and whoever put him up to this originally), filled a vacuum and it worked
out for him. But I wouldn't say it was all done out of selfless love for hockey.
And I would think that some of the anger towards him comes not only from
his sometimes dubious, sometimes bogus, almost always "best face on it for
the league" reporting, but honestly, jealousy. I'll admit it. I wouldn't mind
doing what he's doing, and concieveably, if I had made a blogspot during the
lockout and talked to some people and C&P'ed what JD was saying on MSG,
hey, who knows? I'd rather jet and drive around and do various hockey
related BS. I think alot of people here that have posted and "reported" on
various forums for years feel the same way.
I think alot of long time STH know an "in". And Eklund used his to his
advantage and got some more, and has an active imagination to make up
even more. That's gotten him "in" too. Good for him, in that standpoint,
everyone else has to go through the process a whole other way, by paying
their dues and working their way up to in from high school/college, and
others by having careers in the sport. He didn't.
BUT, he has to understand the responsbility of being "in". And when he's
just blatantly making up ****, obviously, he hasn't grasped that yet. Alot
of other people have "in's" and can easily call BS on what he says.
The funniest thing about him "succeeding" is that he did it under an assumed
name to protect his "nothingness" in the business. And now, Dwayne's gonna
have a hard time getting out from under that.

I can understand that, I stated that I hate his rumours(Because most of them are falses, And it just makes him more....)
But yeah, I think lot of people would love to be in his shoes(Except..They wouldn't do tose falses rumours)
But oh well..Why do you think Eklund always tries to do some rumours with the Montreal Canadiens? They have the most fans here on Hf boards.
He just wants to get the attention, Simply as that

None taken. Just out of curiosity though--who is big Ron? Do you mean Ron Low, the new assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators? Just curious. Nice slag otherwise.
fIREnIcE 08-18-2007, 02:30 AM no tot be a di*k but didnt we have a all eklund merged thread....i fnot I think we take a cue from other teams and input one.

Brooklyndevil 08-18-2007, 10:30 AM Maybe Martin isn't going anyhwere, but I wouldn't be surprised say if Gionta was moved for Horcoff and either Smid or Cogliano. Lou may not want to move parise off the left side and and everyone knows that Zubrus is a better right-winger than center.
Elias-Horcoff-Zubrus
Parise-Zajac-Cogliano
Pando-Madden-Jamie Lang
Brylin-The Finn/Rupp/Pelley-Clarkson.
wingmanpei 08-18-2007, 10:43 AM Cogliano hasn't played a pro game yet, not sure if he is ready for full time NHL duty let alone top 6 playing time.
Currently Zubrus is pegged as the top line center and I'm not confident that he is capable of centering the top line, but Horcoff is definitely not the answer.

I'd rather have Zubrus center the 1st line than move Gionta to bring in Horcoff.
