"Barker Watch" GDT - Dallas 1/5/04

Can't believe no one called me on the wrong year in the Ovechkin watch thread.

Anyway, it's about that time when Fedorov gets two or three points and fools everyone again for a little while.

If we score first, we'll get a point. If we don't, we won't. I'll say 3-1 Ducks.

LOL, another good watch CFOB.

I say 2-2, Feds and Chistov.

3-0 Stars...Simpson has a Gordie Howe hat trick without all the points...

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:16 AM
I see Modano might be out injured. Whether he sucks this year or not, he's always good for a point or two against us.

That could help a lot.

Could be ours to win. But we have a history of losing against slumping teams this season... Speaking about that, we also have a history of losing against strong teams this season... :shakehead

Can somebody tell me why in the blue hell Bill MacDonald is doing the play-by-play? I hate this guy.

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 06:44 PM
Well, Jiggy is still on...

And Rooch scores for the first time in forever! Yay Rooch!

...but our defense is still off.

01-05-2004, 06:48 PM
Lines are Prospal-Fedorov-McDonald
Nieds-Rooch-Sykora
Chistov-Pahlsson-Johnson

Nice clear on the PK by Rucchin. He's been more involved this game.

01-05-2004, 06:56 PM
Turn around Andy! LOL he had an open net and just ragged it.

Yeah, Bill Mcdonald sucks we need Ahlers back. Not only are we losing games but were losing announcers. LETS TALK ABOUT IT!

DAMNIT Chistov. What more does he need?

Awesome cycling by that line but you have to finish your chances. DAMN.

Dont know. I just turned on the game at 10:30 and saw Mcdonald instead of Ahlers. Didnt hear them say why, maybe they said it on the pregame. :dunno:

That really was a great game. The WJC I mean. I loved it when all the kids started singing the anthem (really badly).

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:22 PM
That was a great period. I wish Chistov had scored. That's my only complaint, and I tried really hard to find it.

Spankatola Jamnuts

Morrow went off in a daze after Salei hit him. The check didn't seem like all that much.

I've pretty much had my fill of Carney blocking shots and then barely limping off.

something is wrong with my feed....
i'll be watching it, and then the video starts getting distorted...

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:37 PM
Damn. Huge save there by Turco.

And then Lehtinen scored. How they could ignore all the hooking in the neutral zone I'll never know, but the refs are just congenitally bad.

soya_sauce_chicken
01-05-2004, 07:37 PM
well
Lehtinen just scored...
blaaah..
too bad sykora couldn't get a score..

Spankatola Jamnuts

Carney buried Sloan at center. That's not something you see from him too often. Guess he's okay.

yet another penalty by your mighty ducks..

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:42 PM
See, that's the rule. Fall down, get the call. Don't fall down, the other guy can do whatever he wants to you.

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:47 PM
See? Fall...penalty. Fall...penalty.

I thought we already played the Avs at home.

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 07:59 PM
Bleh. Refs really allowed the Stars to slow that period down. 9 total shots.

soya_sauce_chicken

i see why Chistov doesn't get any goals now.. he seems to be the worker down at the boards.. he passes it for the shot..

Vish is having kind of a crappy game. He lost Young, and just now he was outmuscled by frickin Turgeon.

My grandma could defend him in the slot.

Havelid too. Strange! :joker:

San Jose has beat the Canucks! They are on fire big time!

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-05-2004, 08:45 PM
Well, it's not that strange for Havelid to suck.

Officiating played a big role in this game.

Overtime!

It will finish 2-2 as I told (and Feds got a goal too!)

Wow, next thing I predict that the Ducks will pick as third in the Draft! :yo:

P.S.: Chock, I was sarcastic on Havelid ;)

Spankatola Jamnuts

No goal for Fedorov. Niedermayer gets credit.

We needed two points and didn't get them. How weird is that. We're usually such a clutch team.

lux_interior
01-05-2004, 10:16 PM
As in this year we always choke in the clutch?

This game was actually watchable for some reason. Even though it was a very defensive game, the ducks actually showed some determination to win (or tie). Can't say I've seen that very much this year.

Fedorov played well. Poorly officiated game, IMO. And I rarely biatch about the officiating. Although I thought the non-call on the hold on Prospal was the right call. Prospal embellished it ridiculously. I think the refs were saying they weren't buying his acting job.

Not a bad game from the Ducks. But, as I think will be the story for this year's team...too little too late.

yup
Nieds got credit for the goal.. yahoo shows Feds...
i can't believe we tied.. :(

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-06-2004, 08:17 AM
Yeah, they didn't change it for good until after the game.

But - we scored first, and we got a point. I'm not too sad about this game because I think if the officiating had been a bit more even we'd have won. We played as well as I've seen.

And Hayward said that Leclerc was about a week away.

And Hayward said that Leclerc was about a week away.

Great! Can't wait for him to produce something, so we can trade him for someone more healthy and more consistant, but another power forward of course.

McDonald19
01-06-2004, 07:25 PM
Rucchin finally had a good game. Maybe he is healthy now.

Federov was flying just like Hayward was saying.

Giguere was ok...I hate when he allows those goals where he looks complete lost (Scott Young scores and Giggy still doesn't know where the puck is).

Refs screwed us. 5-1 powerplay opportunities in favor of Dallas...The game wasn't that lopsided in terms of hooking and slashing...

Pwnasaurus
01-07-2004, 04:39 AM
What I've noticed more this year about Giguere is he seems to get flustered and confused when an opponent is behind the net, it's happened a few times this year already, although I recall in the playoffs last year (I forget against who) he made an awesome stop on someone who was sitting behind the net and tried a wraparound. So great a stop in fact that I recall saying to myself "How did he know which side that shot was going to come from?" as the attempt was extremely quick and his save had to be quicker. He looks to be getting back to his mid to late season form like clockwork however.

duckhead3198
01-07-2004, 01:00 PM
good point 1016 on giguere getting flustered...

for a goalie, when a player goes behind the net and is moving from side to side, the goalie can't face the player. when you turn your head, at that exact moment, a goalie is vulnerable because he has to lose sight of the puck to pick it up, maybe other teams are specifically using that against jiggy, the stars game i don't think was the first time that's happened to jiggy this season. then again, maybe my memory is bad.

Spankatola Jamnuts
01-07-2004, 01:07 PM
Not that often.

It's all academic if Vishnevski picks up Young on the play, anyway.

Yeah, Vish f'd up that play and the on the Lehtinen goal as well. On that one it was back to the old Vish, hunting for the big hit with complete dis-regard to hanging his partner out to dry.

I still fail to see any great play out of him beyond maybe 2 games a month or so ago.

I dont mind Vish going for the big hit before the Lehtinen goal. I don't see that as directly leading to a goal like the other play since Lehtinen still had to make a perfect shot.

He was in position to make it, though, and no one was on him.
