Seems to be general knowledge that Larionov just doesn't enjoy playing for the Devils, normally this sort of behavior would prompt Lou to make a trade.

Maybe we should just send him back to the wings. I'd actually like to see them trade for him again in mid season. NJ_Devil_Boy 01-04-2004, 02:30 AM Maybe we should just send him back to the wings. I'd actually like to see them trade for him again in mid season. I think it would serve NJ better by keeping Larionov. NJ won't get much back for a guy everyone knows is retiring after a great hockey career. Who knows what the playoffs will bring. Larionov could be the guy to make the perfect pass to Friesen for the GWG to win the Cup. :yo: tmg 01-04-2004, 06:08 AM I think he has nil trade value. Lou would be lucky if he could find someone willing to take his contract in exchange for nothing. Larionov would most likely clear waivers. Maybe Atlanta could use him, if only to reunite with Kozlov and give Kovalchuk some time to play with one of his country's legends. But even if a team *wants* him, he mioght be worth a sixth round pick at absolute best (and probably requiring New Jersey pay a thiord of the remaining contract). MissionHockey 01-04-2004, 06:54 AM Maybe if we stuck a "for sale" sign on his forehead some poor sucker would put a bid on him. Tbg1515 01-04-2004, 09:09 AM I got it, how bout Igor to the Rangers.......I mean they already have Messier........And in return we get a bag of pucks, Lou has got to buy his contract ouut and just say he made a mistake.....It's ok Lou 1 mistake for 3 cups ill take it.....Get rid of Igor and sign Berezzin Tao Jones 01-04-2004, 08:32 PM Signing Larionov so soon after Nieuwendyk leaving for Toronto did seem like an uncharacteristic reactionary move by Lou. I thought he may have instructional coaching potential within the organization after he retires. With Rasmussen out, I wish we could have held on to Rheaume. Pascal is playing well for NYR on the PK, forcing turnovers even strength and winning faceoffs and battles along the boards with strong positional play on the fourth line despite not showing up on the scoresheet. I believe Berezin is playing for CSKA in Russia. Is friesen12 really just J-Mac messing with people on the Trade board? | ||
