Ronnie Bass 01-03-2004, 05:15 PM God damn that boy is a little hot under the collar. What the hell pissed him off to get 29 minutes in penalties?

after he got speared (may or may not have been intentional) by a crunch player, brown just totally lost it and decided to go after the other guy and when the guy turtled out of the fight, brown just kept beating up on him :shakehead

I know it hurts the team, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing some of this intensity (not quite overkill to this degree, but if Hale or White loses it and takes a man to the penalty box I wont mind) against a very scrappy Predators game that is known for playing tough heads up hockey.

agreed, except in the Rats case it's equivalent to having Stevens or Niedermayer taking an idiotic penalty, leaving your team with a much weakened defense. Thankfully Redlihs isn't playing.
in any case.....Suglobov scored his 10th of the season, and the game is now tied at 2-2 :yo:
Period 2
Syracuse - Mark Hartigan (Joe Motzko) 3:44
Albany - Aleksander Suglobov (powerplay) (Raymond Giroux, Adrian Foster) 4:22
Albany - Raymond Giroux (Joe Hulbig, Maxim Balmochnykh) 8:16
PEli* 01-03-2004, 05:48 PM Nice! Two more points for the G-Man and Foster adds another assist.
Brown's abuse of an official will get him an automatic five game suspension, won't it?

I think it's normally a three game suspension, but I'm sure the Rats will ask the league to review.
anyways...Hartigan just completed his hattrick, and the Rats are down 3-2 :(
edit:
the AHL updated the scoreboard to reflect a different penalty for Brown:
(Fighting (Aggressor) Game Misconduct) (56(a))
ratsgirl 01-03-2004, 06:08 PM ok...i know i'm repeating the scoresheet here, but anyways, Foster finally scored! :)
the bad news is that johansson got injured in the first, and with brown out, the rats are down to 15 skaters for the third.
Period 2
Syracuse - Mark Hartigan (Joe Motzko, Shawn Limpright) 3:44
Albany - Aleksander Suglobov (powerplay) (Raymond Giroux, Adrian Foster) 4:22
Albany - Raymond Giroux (Joe Hulbig, Maxim Balmochnykh) 8:16
Syracuse - Mark Hartigan (Joe Motzko, Darrel Scoville) 11:57
Albany - Adrian Foster (Jiri Bicek) 18:00

Not a good omen for a team killing lots of penalties. The Rats are going to sleep pretty good tonight when all is said and done just from sheer fatigue alone.

How many is that Foster, is it his first? Anyway it's good to see him score, can't help but feel for this kid with all the bad breaks he's gone through.

his third, but first since Nov 8th.
he's getting double-shifted now since the Rats are down to two centers.
ratsgirl 01-03-2004, 06:59 PM well, fatigue, too many penalties, too few players, and subpar goaltending and defense finally set in the third, and the Rats get crunched 7-4.
Mark Hartigan scores as many goals by himself as the Rats do combined.
Rats have still not won two in a row this season.
Period 3
Syracuse - Donald MacLean (Derrick Walser, Trent Cull) 11:24
Syracuse - Mark Hartigan (Joe Motzko, Shawn Limpright) 12:18
Syracuse - Mike Pandolfo (Derrick Walser) 14:03
Albany - Raymond Giroux (powerplay) (Maxim Balmochnykh, Joe Hulbig) 17:19
Syracuse - Joe Motzko (emptynet) (unassisted) 19:58
Ronnie Bass 01-03-2004, 07:07 PM Can't help but noticed that Pando's bro scored, does he play anything like his older brother?
NJ_Devil_Boy 01-03-2004, 07:11 PM I wouldn't mind Suglobov getting the call to NJ. This Devils team can't put the puck in the net these days and it seems Suglobov has a very hot hand right now.

I'll second this motion. Time to make the phone call and roll out the official Brylin/Larionov Russian welcoming party.
devildan 01-03-2004, 09:02 PM How is Maxim B. doing?
ratsgirl 01-03-2004, 09:20 PM How is Maxim B. doing?
probably way more than you wanted, but:
Max has been in and out of the lineup with recurring concussion problems. having watched him play, i'm not surprised. he's a wonderful combination of great skating ability, decent playmaking skills and intense physical play. max likes to hit, and he loves to throw his body around. hence, he gets injured quite a bit. and every time he comes back, he's rusty for a game or two before picking up his play.
So I dunno, Max is doing ok, and I'm a big fan of his but my gut feeling is telling me Max is never going to go anywhere. I'd love to be wrong, though.

Great review.
Maybe we could get surgeons to screw his brain to his skull to diminish his concussion problems. (Would that work?) Well if not surgeons, I'm sure there's a few handyman-types that would be willing to do it.
Or maybe use glue instead.
:D
