Someone explain this to me. Did we need a d-man that bad? Why Lupul and not Chistov?

I though Popovic was playing poorly in Cincy? Am I wrong?

really dumb move. we should have at least sent holmqvist down. lupul has been one of the few highlights so far this year.

Maybe so, but he's the best we've got down there.

As for Lupul, he hasn't done anything in a long time. He'll got top line minutes in Cincy and figure out how to play here consistently.

Wow, wasn't really expecting that. Maybe this is just a short term move till the team gets back to Anaheim and Havelid joins the lineup again?

but i don't get it that they send lupul down...tztztztz...

maybe they wanted to give him some more ice time, and with halvelid and ozo gone... they needed xtra d-man...

with niedermayer and blysma back in the fold... there might have not been many minutes for him...

I like this move. I was hoping Lupul get some time in the minors but with Leclerc and Nieds out, the Ducks had no choice but play the kid. Now that he is in Cincy, Lupul will get top minutes and build some confidence.

Popovic earned the recall. Lets see what the kid can do.

Leclerc's due back soon, too. You either waive somebody or send somebody down. I'd rather Lupul work on his game and get some confidence.

Lupul is obviously the future of this team. Going to Cincy is nothing but a positive IMO. A lot of good young players have to spend time in the minors. It puts these young kids in pressure situations where they can develop different aspect of their game. And when they come back up, they are better players for it. The Ducks have invested in Lupul. No one should be worried about Lupul's place in the organization. He'll be back up sooner rather than later.

Popovic spent enough time in the minors IMO. There's a point where you have to give the kid a taste of the NHL and give him an opportunity to show what he got. If he doesn't do well, that's fine. He'll go back to Cincy knowing what areas he needs to work. These are growing pains you have to accept if the organization wants to develop young kids.

Chistov leads the team in assists and has clicked with Pahlsson and Sykora.

I don't understand why everyone is so down on Chistov.. sure he's only scored one goal but he's also 6th on the team in points and 1st in assists. He could easily have 5 or 6 goals if it weren't for all the damn posts and times he's gotten robbed.

Probably for the same reason us Canuck fans are down on both the Sedins. They are playing well, but you gotta score at least once in a blue moon. I wouldn't worry about Chistov yet though, he is still very young and is still learning how to play in the NHL.

Couldn't we just get rid of Craig Johnson instead of sending Lupul down?

Johnson looks good on Fedorov's line. Skating and hitting. Much more involved there than Lupul was.

If you're looking for a ton of offense from him then you're deluding yourself.

Well we have too many players who skate and hit but don't score...Pahlsson,Krog,Bylsma,Johnson,...Niedermaye r and Rucchin are probably joining that club as well.

We obviously need to score more goals and Lupul does have that ability.

Lupul -1 4 shots on goal no points in Cincys 2-2 tie today.

Rucchin doesn't skate or hit.

Lupul can score, but he won't backcheck most often, he makes lazy circles instead of stopping and changing direction. The one thing that made him dangerous was his shot and his willingness to use it. But usually he wasn't in good enough position to recieve a pass and get a shot off. He needs to work on that.

The team is done for this season, let's pray we'll have a high draft pick!

Joffrey picks up a natural HT in the last Cincy game. 3 goals, 2 assists in 3 games so far. Shouldn't be too long before he gets called back up. Hopefully by the end of the month?
