Skrlac back -- and feeling confident

An admittedly more confident Skrlac hopes to provide more of that kind of spark to an inconsistent AHL team struggling to get into playoff contention during the 2004 portion of the season that begins tonight at home against Lowell.
"I think you get a lot (of confidence) just from being around that whole experience up there (New Jersey)," Skrlac said. "Playing with those guys, just being on the ice with them, you do gain some confidence."
In Skrlac's second NHL shift he was credited with a goal when he was camped in front of the net and an Erik Rasmussen shot caromed in off his leg against Atlanta. In every newspaper, it looked just as good as a Patrik Elias slap shot from the circle, and the goal put Skrlac into the NHL record book. "I'm really happy for Robbie," Rats coach Red Gendron said. "This is a guy who's worked his tail off all his career. He deserves it."

"The fact that the organization has enough confidence in you to put you out there in that situation gives you confidence," the 6-5, 245-pounder said. "I think just being around them (the Devils) is a great experience, and I'd like to bring a little back here and help out here a little."
