Blueshirts' brain freeze
By JOHN DELLAPINA

ST. LOUIS - Having already given away more than enough games this season to blow a playoff spot, the Rangers last night plumbed new depths of self-destruction.
And the question facing GM/coach Glen Sather today is: Does he hang on tight and hope his club can overcome its chronic stupidity or does he attempt to finally call a halt to it by doing something loud and dramatic?
Obliterating the effects of game-opening dominance with a rash of brain-numbed penalties, inane turnovers, pathetic penalty-killing and more inadequate goaltending by Mike Dunham, the Rangers simply handed over a game to the St. Louis Blues, 5-4, at the Savvis Center.
"We had that game under control tonight," Sather said. "That's why it's so disappointing. We take two steps forward and one step backward."
