Leopold Question

TSN says that we traded Leopold to Calgary for Nazarov and a 2nd in 2001. I know Popovic was our own selection, but what was the one we got from Calgary? I was looking at past drafts, and saw two Calgary picks but only one Anaheim in the 2nd round.

We traded the 2nd rd pick for Keith Carney...a great deal.

Too bad we didn't keep Leopold and trade a different 2nd for Carney.

We got Carney for that second rounder and Nazarov was traded with useless Traverse to get Pahlsson.

Leopold ,Nazarov and Traverse for Carney and Pahlsson is pretty good actually.

Lets not forget, we drafted Popovic with our second rounder in 2001.

I always saw it as Leopold vs. Popovic. Leopold has two years of development ahead of Popovic so I think both guys are pretty even in their development right now.

What makes it really confusing is Phoenix traded the pick back to Calgary as part of moving up in the first round. That makes it look like Calgary never traded their 2nd rounder if you are just looking at a draft list.

awful trade, but yeah at least we got carney out of it. the leapold trade and the hunter trade are really coming back to haunt us right now. I mean whats the 2 things we want most right now? A realiable puck moving defenseman (leapold), and a big forward who can score (hunter). oh well nothing we can do about it now i guess.
