Nah, he is not what we need.

Kasper's 3 mil cap hit is definitely going bye bye when he gets waived, which gives them some breathing room.

The rumor is that they may dump more salary by jettisoning Mara or another d-man, because Staal will probably stay up with the big boys this season.

It might get tight cap-wise across the river, but Lou and Holland have already proved you can survive a season with zero cap room.

This is not entirely true. If you go over due to performance bonuses, you have to pay that amount against the cap the following season, and $2M is a harsh penalty.

Congratulations on the administrator title (that's new right)? I feel sorry for you IB, I know how meticulous you are about all the information you post, but there's no stopping people from posting crap like "I heard from my cousin's best friend's brother, who shines Bettman's shoes, that the Rangers are over the cap."

Seriously though, I don't really care. They'll be under on opening night, even if they have to shed some marginal players.

Rags aren't over the Cap, but they are going to be pressed up against it like the Devils were the last two seasons, particularly next year when most of Shanahan's bonus will most likely count.

Now that everyone has put their two cents in let me explain why I posted that. Even "if" they are under the cap right now, it's not by much. It'll be tough for Sather to add some help (if required) by the trade deadline for a playoff run. Much like the situation Lou was in last year at the deadline.
