Pat Quinn

According to thefourthperiod.com, Lou has interviewed Pat Quinn twice in the last 2 weeks. :amazed: Johnny Mac is still believed to be the front runner though, so it seems to be boiling down to Pat Quinn, Johnny Mac, or maybe a comeback from Pat Burns.

Am I missing any major candidates? thoughts, preferences?
I personally dont see how Quinn's free-offensive style would fit here, but I wouldn't mind seeing him here either.

Wow, that would be very depressing if Pat Quinn becomes the coach. Maybe Lou will hire him just so he can have the pleasure of firing him with 1 week left to go before the playoffs?

Please ANYONE other then Quinn. With him as a coach , any non veteran player will get no playing time and next season we will have a couple of players that deserve to get the icetime. He is over rated as a coach

The Devils hiring Pat Quinn would be like Jesus hiring Satan (the Prince of Darkness; not Miro) to "clean things up a bit in Heaven." Pardon the pun with the Devils and Satan.

Brian Sutter would be my first pick, but since that is not happening then maybe Pat Burns (providing he's healthy). I'm not a big fan of Johnny Mac behind the bench as a head coach and I'll become a Rangers fan before I watch a team coached by Pat Quinn.

The only interest I have in a Adams winning coach is if it comes with a Cup.

Quinn is not the right fit for this team in my opinion. He plays favorites with the veteran players at the expense of the young guys on a team. He is great with the media but that is irrelevant in NJ given that the New York media ignores the Devils unless something bad happens. He doesn't work well with the GM because he is often looking for their job and that won't mesh with a strong GM like Lou. Yes, the guy could win in the regular season ... but then again so could Claude Julien. The Devils have always been about the second season and there, Quinn has never got it done.

Really? So you thought Pat Burns was a bad hire too?

He brought the Devils a Cup. Quinn won't.

How can you be so sure? Pat Quinn has never had a team with a goalie like Martin Brodeur and he has led teams to the finals and to the final 4 on numerous occasions, Pat Burns had been to one final and two final 4's. Pat Quinn was ONE GAME away from being a Stanley Cup champion, and really I wish he got it so the Rangers futility streak would be longer than 13 years. Don't write off Pat Quinn so quickly, he has an amazing record, and he's got fire and passion, something Julien sorely lacked. I endorse Pat Quinn over Johnny Mac.

I will agree with you on one thing for sure. I would endorse Quinn over Maclean as well. I just don't think that Quinn has what it takes to bring the Devils a Cup. Burns does. Quinn would do well with a veteran team where the roles are set in stone. I'm not sure that I would trust him to coach a team with a lot of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players like the Devils have. Quinn is a good coach. I just don't think he is right for the Devils.

Fair enough dude. Thing is, the team is set in stone minus the fourth line, everyone knows where they're going to be playing. Defense pairings is another issue......he may over work Brodeur though.
