I personally grew away from the series after around 06...but I know a lot of you guys were still fans of it so I figured I'd post this article:

I gotta say the stuff they speak of sounds impressive, although the video doesn't impress me nearly as much. It's definitely sounding more innovative than it has ever been...depending on what 2k does with it's series I might switch back this year.

And for those of you that own a PS3 and not a 360...the games should be pretty much identical at this point, so I wouldn't worry about one version being better than the other.

The thing that pissed me off about 2k7 was they had the modes in 2k6 for just playing for the hell of it. Then in 2k7 you can't, except when doing the international scouting.

That was a bit annoying.

Not modelling the goalies after Dan Cloutier would be a good start. There's no way I should be scoring 17 goals on the hardest difficulty with 5 minute periods using the default Devils roster. Also, if anyone had 07 for the PC, how brutal were those roster updates this year????? 2 frikkin updates all season? And Zajac was still rated like crap come March.

I've played every version of this game since the original, and it's amazing how they always seem to screw up one part of what is otherwise a solid game. My friend thinks its a conspiracy by EA to make sure you buy the new version every year.. and he might be right.

It's not a conspiracy...it's called business.

I'll remember that the next time I get a finger in my Wendy's chilli. I can't wait to see what they put in there next!

This game's gonna be nasty.

maybe, so long as they focus on realism and not being able to do triple axls and score goals from the opposing blueline. That's be a good start.

I haven't enjoyed an NHL game since ESPN NHL Hockey (NHL 2K4). Maybe I'll give this one a go.

Yeah I stopped with 06 because I got bored with it fast and I decided to go with 2k6 just to see what it was all about (being Ign rated it higher) got it for like 4 bucks off Ebay and loved it. So I've stuck with them so far and I can't say I've been fully disappointed, although the PS3 version really is lacking.

Either way though, previews are always supposed to be a selling point on them and not a critical overview of the game as a whole, so we'll see how the reviews are come September and also what 2k sports has done to improve their game as well since they've been very candid thus far.

But like I said, I do like the things EA has implemented so 2k is really gonna have to step it up to compete with those things.

I have an idea to get the rating more accurate in the ea nhl series and the 2k sports series. every team (i think) has their own skills compitition. why not have some of the ratings based on the skills compitition(ie speed, shot power), just an idea

I hope that great goalies will play better than low 80's. There is no reason why Brodeur should be inferior to Osgood. I have the 07 PC version which pretty much blows, that doesn't stop me from playing it but I really hope 08 is the same for the PC as it is for the Xbox
