Prudential Arena TV View Better Be Good

I seriously hope that the new arena offers a
good view of the action at home on TV.
We were used to good sight lines with
the Continental Arena. Some arenas like
the Duck Pond and Detroits Arena are
awful. At the Duck Pond you can barely
make out the name of the number on the
back of the player and at Detroit when
the fans stand up you miss important action
in the game which is very annoying. So
hopefully some mind was taken into
consideration at where the TV cameras
will be placed. I think Dallas' arena
and even the Islanders have good TV
camera placements.

One of the galleries on the Devils site has a view from the TV camera location, and it looks really close to the ice, but it also looks like we might have a problem similar to Detroit.

Watching a game on TV is the best at Nassau Coliseum. The sight lines are tremendous and its a bright building so you dont have to squint to see the puck.

I hate the Ducks' arena. Its so damn dark you can't see *****.

I agree, hate when the camera is too high, you feel like bird in the rafters.
.
Dallas is a great place to watch games from, you can really tell what´s going on, on the ice.

Remember the cameras will probably be higher than that. That picture was probably just standing there where the cameras will be on a stand and thus over the peoples heads.

Exactly.

That picture is very misleading as its a shot from the area where the cameras are located... but not where the camera's actual viewpoints are.

I am not a fan of the low camera angles in Detroit, Dallas and Toronto.
On a PP, when a forward passes the puck to the point and there is a one timer, the camera guy is always too slow to catch the shot on goal. When goal is scored on that shot you hear the crowd reaction before you actually see the shot on goal.
As much as I hate M$G, their camera angle is VERY good.

it should be fine. Looks like it is in the Ice Lounge area so with no seats behind it they just be able to get it well above everyone's heads seated below.

Marc Andre Fleury did that in the minors with WBS Penguins.
He was the first goalie to do it in a pro game.

No ****. I have Cablevision but used to have Comcast a few years back.
Watching a game in HD is a thousand times better.
When the Devs play away games, aside from when at MSG or Nassau, the picture and audio is sub-par. The home games I did not attend were a pleasure to watch in HD.
At least Versus made the HD plunge too for next season.

I get MSG-HD with Time Warner. It's only satellite and FIOS that he won't give MSG-HD to, as those are his competitors. Generally there is only 1 cable system in any given area, so there's no competition.

Sitting in the last row at the Honda Center is 2 times better than their TV feed. It's too blurry.

The Stars TV camera spot sucks. Way too low.

I've heard rumblings of Verizon trying to take court action against this, as it is an abuse of monopolistic powers. I'm trying to find out for sure, but the day FiOS gets MSGHD & FSNY HD, I'm leaving Cablevision.
