Kinda got the Idea from the NHL forum, and if it has been done before i apologize, but there are many of us that are fairly new......

My first Devils Game was in 1984 can't remember much since i was like 4 or 5, but have the program for a memory with Chico on the Cover.

Chico resch was in Goal vs the Vancouver Canucks. It was a great Canucks team that had Stan Smyl and Tony Tanti (i remeber them since i thought the names sounded funny) in looking back through the program i saw the names of two young stars in Cam Neely and later to be Devil Patrik Sundstrom on the Nucks. Anyway I remember that the Nucks won like 4-2 or something. Have to say that i wish i could remember more, but thats what happens when you go young. It was pretty cool experience that turned me on to hockey and Devils for life.

Funny to look back through the programs from then. I actually saw that the goalie for the Nucks could very well have been Richard Brodeur!!!! Coincidence!!!!

As an FYI, My mother is dumping all the stuff i used to have in my bedroom at their place on me now, and i am finding tons of programs from 87,88,89 and so on.

5-1 loss to the Quebec Nordiques.

To this day I miss the away uniforms of the Nordiques. I believe they are the best in NHL history along with the North Stars green...also away.

My first live Devils game was during the 2000 Stanley Cup playoffs. We were playing the Leafs in Toronto and the series was tied 2-2 I believe. All I can really remember from the game was that I sat infront of these two Toronto fans who seemed to not really care about the game but just talked constantly about how bad the Toronto players were/are/have been... and amazingly they had a different nickname for every player. Mr. Giveaway, etc... Almost ruined the game listening to these two morons, but the Devils went on to win the game and the Toronto fans bombarded the ice surfaces with cups, trays, bottles, almost anything they could find. Needless to say the Devils went on to win the series 4-2 in Jersey and as they say ladies and gentlemen, the rest is history as we went on to win the Stanley Cup.

Since then I have been to numerous games but the one I remember the most was Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final agaisnt Anaheim when Stevens layed out Kariya. What a hit.

Devs vs Hartford in December of 1982. Devs won something like 5-4. I was instantly hooked!

My first game was against the Nordiques too. It was 1993, I was 9 Years old. Awesome seats, first row right above the tunnel in between the benches at CAA. I took a whole roll of great pictures and then my Grandmother lost the film!!! At least I still have the ticket stub.

All my life every sporting event I went to, the team I was rooting for lost, and the home team lost (IE, I had always been rooting for the home team - usually the Montreal Expos or Ottawa Rough Riders - and they always lost). I was a Devils fan in Ottawa, and when Ottawa was awarded an expansion team I was brought to a Devils@Sens game. Since the home team and the team I was rooting for were different, I figured I'd finally get to see either a home win or a win by the team I was rooting for.

Instead, I saw a 3-3 tie.

My first Devs game was actually an away game
in Buffalo, New York. This game is a famous
game in Sabres history as Gilbert Perreault
scored his 500th goal against Alain Chevrier.
The Devs obviously lost as they were kind
of like a doormat at that time, but had an
excellent work ethic that had been instilled
when Tom McVie coached the team. The
Devs used to have a really difficult time winning
in Buffalo.

It was 1982, I wasn't even 2 years old yet. No idea who they played, no idea what happened, all I know is I still have the hat from it and I've been a fan ever since, much to my father's chagrin. He's a ranger fan.

Devils-Nordiques.. I think it was 1984.. not 100% sure what year; we got there early and watched warmups, and one of the Nordiques flipped some pucks our way - we were like 8 or 9, me, my friend, and our dads.. My dad caught a puck - it was a black and white logo on the top and a Hawaiian Punch b&w ad on the back...

My love affair with hockey started before that, when flipping through channels, and i came upon a closeup of Steve Weeks' back standing in his crease at a stoppage.. I had no idea what the heck it was but i began rooting for Weeks.. "Come on, Weeks!" What an idiot. I was like 6. I quickly understood it, though... and when the Devils came to NJ I rooted for them.

The first live hockey game I ever went to was the Devils vs. Rangers on Easter Sunday in 1995. The tickets were a gift on Christmas the year prior (I was 12, like I could afford tickets myself). That 4-1 win by the Devils was magnificent (and a foretaste of things to come for the Devils later in the postseason, in retrospect).

It was during the first month or two of the 1982 season. Me and some friends from high school got the cheap seats upstairs ($8!!!!) and around halfway through the first period, an usher asked us if we wanted to move down to the first level. They were taking pictures that night and the crowd was pretty light, so they let everyone sit downstairs to make it look crowded. Even then that was an issue!
I think they played Buffalo, but I really don't remember. Steve Tambellini scored.

if you indeed saw that game in 1993, then it was the same game i attended.

i was also 9 at the time...but i sat behind the goal the Devils defend twice...and all the goals were scored at the other end.

being that i lived on the island and was an isle fan growing up thanks to my family, my dad begrudgingly took me to an isle/dev game at the colliseum. i had my zelepukin jersey on and dont remember who won, but i had a blast. it was sometime in 93 i believe btw. oh and in one of our many more journeys to the colliseum, during warm up bill guerin hit my dad with a puck. i was watchin them flip pucks up and guerin shot one over the boards for the yelling kids but it went too high and i stopped watching it. then these 2 guys tap on my sholder and say is that ur father up there? come with us. i thought i did something wrong cuz i was bart simpson type teenager. but there my dad is, with blood all over our fries and hot dogs with this big gash on his chin. looked like a razor cut it. he got 6 stitches and we got free tickets and food. dont think it made up for it for my dad tho haha:biglaugh:. good times

My first game was in 1988 but I don't remember it at all. The only thing I really remember of that season from live games was being at a Devils-Flames game and thinking how the Flames were not only HUGE (much bigger than any team I'd seen the Devils play) but exceedingly fast (again, faster than any other team I'd seen). The Flames were by far the best team in the late 80's and probably should have won more Cups than they did.

Since then I always figured the key to getting a championship caliber team was to have players who are very big but still very fast. And surprise! That's the latest team-building philosophy again.

I think it was 84-85 Devs - Whalers. The day that Pat Verbeek became my favorite player...2 penalties, no goals... but one gritty *******.

Chico looked awful that game...we lost.

October 6th, 1988, a loss against the Flyers. Only knew that because I looked it up in the guidebook, but I was all of 16 months old and in Sec. 107 with my dad.

I had seasons the first year they were here. I still have the penant in my attic. I think it was against Pittsburgh. I wanted to go to last game as well but missed it, guess I just have to go to 1st game at the Rock! Also went to the All-Star game there, that was when Gretz called them a Mickey Mouse org, man I was mad, but he was not that wrong I saw a lot of losses in that building I think it was liek 4-1 ratio lose to win in teh beginning.
BTW the first hockey played at the Brendan Byrne Arena was not the Devs (They were still the Rockies) it was an exhibiton game between the Blueskirts and the Flyers. I met Booby Hull there, I had nothing to sign so I gave him a dollar to sign, Bobby Hull's autograph is worth a buck right?

Nove 27th 1984 Vs. Minnesota. Bench clearing brawl after 2nd intermission.

Paul Holmgren was on the North Stars that year. I think Aaron Broten had game winner. Devils won 3-2

I was also at Stevens's first game Oct . 5th 1991 vs. St. Louis. The crowd booed Brenden Shanahan every time he touched the puck. He scored in that game for the Blues. Devils won 7-2. Richer toasted Vicent Riendeau for 2 goals in his first game as a Devil.
