Devils interested in Sutton

Having solidified the Devils' backup goaltender position by signing former Ranger Kevin Weekes on Thursday, general manager Lou Lamoriello said he isn't done shopping on the unrestricted free agent market yet.

The top priority on his list is defense, where he needs to add at least one more player. Lamoriello wouldn't comment on rumors that the team was in the bidding for ex-Devil Sheldon Souray. A source said the Devils are also pursuing Atlanta defenseman Andy Sutton.

It's doubtful the Devils would sign both, though.

"We will definitely sign somebody else," Lamoriello said.

Sutton's a big boy that's for sure, wouldn't mind having his size on the blue line.

I'm sorry, but Souray is a more important addition than Sutton would be. We don't need another big defenseman that can't so much as shoot the puck. We have two of them in White and Matvichuk and I believe 2 true stay-at-home dmen is more than enough in today's NHL. Again I say we gotta follow Ottawa's recipe for defense pairings with two offensively talented and one stay-at-home. Our old style of pairing defensive defensemen with offensive defensemen maybe ancient now...

Whether intentional or not, Jon definitely has had a gloating air around his posts lately. Normally wouldn’t piss me off, except he jumps all over peoples backs when they point it out. His faux sincerity isn’t needed here.

Well there are only 3 worthy d-men left. Obviously, Souray is the first choice. Sutton and Markov are the plan B's. Sutton is a punk and he would be a nice addition for us. We need some snarl back there. I know Markov is pretty good too, just a different kind of player, and Souray is a combination of the two, and that's why I think he would be the perfect fit.

At this point, I'm willing to take any of the 3 (souray, sutton, markhov). We need to give marty some more help. Parise will take care of the scoring :)

Gotta get Souray...if we settle for Sutton I will be very disappointed. I'll take both Souray and than Sutton. However based on Lou's usual no big splash off-season's you can gauruntee that if Sutton is signed Souray is not coming.

Noticed that as well... One thread in particular became a Ranger fan board, all gloating to each other, with Jon leading the way... Was going to flame in their direction, on behalf of our entire fraternity, but thankfully the thread was locked maybe a minute before I hit "send".

In his defense, he layed off the first day with Gomer. But he has been making up for it lately...;)

But he is a regular around these parts, so not really "trolling" per se...
