I listened to the game at work on the radio and one of the announcers mentioned that Berglund was a -2, and it has been a while since he contributed offensively (last 6 games, 0g, 0a, -5), but this is his third year with the club and am I the only one that is starting to wonder if he'll ever break out? I have always liked the kid, he's got good skills and is a fiesty player, but I have a feeling if he doesn't step up soon and fulfill his potential he might find himself back at Albany. I'm not looking for a scapegoat, I've always hated that kind of ********, but this has been in the back of my mind the past few weeks and when I heard about his +/- tonight I'm really starting to doubt if he's ready.

Well, it doesn't help only getting approx. 10 mins of ice time per game. It's a tough situation IMO for Berglund. He should get more ice time, but he should have to earn the right to more ice time (contribute in a positive way, like more goals). Maybe if Larionov and/or Rasmussen are out a while, Berglund will make more of an impact on this team. :dunno:

Yes but +/- is a stat that is hard to judge a players stat by. IN both the islanders games that make up the - 5 he was playing on a line with Gomez and Marshall, and really a lot of that minus is due to piss poor defensive play from Gomer.

He certainly didnt play poorly tonight, and when a few injuries struck was promoted to Gomez's line once again from the 4th line. He also made a sweet feed to gomer which Gomez promptly shanked. Christian is definately a much better player then we saw last year and its too bad that he was injured at a time that he was finding a role on the team.

Also given Lous comments today in the Ledger it seems that he feels Berglund is a part of this team now and is here to stay at least for a while.

In fairness to him I work nights so the last few games I haven't been able to watch the games, only listen to the radio. Maybe with the injuries to Razz and Larinov he will finally make an impact like I know he's capable off. He did start the season off strong and hopefully he can get back to that.

Put him back on the line with Elias. He produced with him, then got demoted to the fourth line and press box when Marshall came back. Berglund should not be playing 10 minutes a game, Marshall should be.

Agreed, time to find out if he can really help us. But Marshall has been playing better for us.
