Dolemite 06-15-2007, 01:29 PM Mods might want to sticky this thread.
This is a blog that will get updated twice a week over the summer as every member of the Ducks will get their turn with the cup.
This is something that the Hockey hall of fame has been doing for a few years now and it's a pretty cool read as the summer progresses.
Here's the link and there's already a couple of entries:

Enjoy.

EDIT: Selänne looks like he got a great idea for the summer. He just bought a new 74-foot boat (the last one sunk as you might remember) and it's gonna be a summer full of partying there.

'bout time the Ducks started targeting the military bases in San Diego county. The amount of hockey fans at these bases is astronomical.
New entry on the journal today.

Dolemite 06-20-2007, 02:46 PM New Stanley cup fact from yesterday's entry:
Much to their amazement (and great enjoyment), the boys discovered that five bottles of Scotch fit very comfortably into the bowl of the Stanley Cup.

RiAnO27 06-24-2007, 06:28 PM I was supposed to see the Cup today in Brooklyn, NY. Ryan Getzlaf was gonna bring it to the Aviator Sports center for that Got Skillz kids tournament they advertised on the Ducks site a few days ago. When I got to the place there was a sign saying that the Cup missed its connecting flight in Chicago and couldn't make it today. :(

"I don't know what's more shocking, the photo itself or that Paul Kariya isn't in it."

snarktacular 07-03-2007, 01:00 PM Ha. A DARE community? I thought they stopped that program.
The funny thing is that apparently this is the 2nd time (in 2 years no less) the Cup's been in Bemidji. For a town of 12000 that's impressive. How long until someone takes the Cup to Orange County (for a personal day)?

I am hoping one of the Nieds brings it to Vancouver.
cmcdmania 07-07-2007, 01:24 AM what game did ryan carter play in it's been too long
Ryan signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks on July 12, 2006. After a productive season with the Portland Pirates in his first year of pro, he got the call he'd been waiting for since he was firing balls around on the streets of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. On May 17, in a Conference Final contest against the Red Wings, Ryan Carter made his NHL debut. He played three games in that series, and then got to play in the Stanley Cup Final when Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle include his name on the gamesheet on June 4.

Anyone find it kind of funny that the Cup makes grown men act like a girl posing her doll? Putting it in chairs and looking through telescopes and all?

CanWest: Would you rather have Scott Niedermayer's beard or George Parros's moustache?
Moen: That's tough. I'm going to say Parros's moustache only because there's a little too much grey in Scotty's beard.
CanWest: He grew more facial hair this spring than I've grown in my whole life.
Moen: (Laughs) I know. Me, too.

The party was in full bloom when the police arrived at 2AM. "Good morning, Mr. Pronger. Look, we know you're having a good time and we want you to have a good time, but we're responding to a noise complaint from a residence a quarter-mile away!

snarktacular 07-31-2007, 10:09 PM So Pronger had his day with the Cup in Anaheim? Does this mean we won't have to hear cracks about him demanding to be traded anymore?
The other timely thing is that there's plenty of Edmonton fans on our boards now with the Penner offer sheet. I'm sure they'll enjoy Pronger's day with the cup. http://www.hhof.com/html/exSCJ07_19.shtml

I'd love to see what Edmonton fans have to say about that picture.
Finnpin 08-03-2007, 07:06 AM Selänne will have his Cup Party in central Helsinki in few hours. Rumours are that he might tell about his future there. Let's see...
Edit. Teemu's future is still unknown. He said that the decision is harder than he thought, but he will tell it in august. Btw Teemu's wife Sirpa is pregnant and they will come back to OC in august or october.

broman 08-04-2007, 03:14 PM Took the boat trip to island fortress outside Helsinki city centre earlier today with the daughter. Teemu's boat ("Lucky Eight") was drifting right outside the harbor with a bunch of people enjoying the sun. We passed them close by when the man himself hoisted the Cup on the rear deck for all of us to admire. You can imagine everyone young and old was excited. Gotta love Teemu for little moments like this: he is so enthusiastic about the game and everything, and so considerate that he is always ready to share some of his enjoyment with others, anybody really. Class act, pure and simple. :handclap:

What happened to Kurri? They asked him a couple questions and he just disappeared? They should have kept him onstage, 2 all time greats in one event.
And Kurri looks kind of fat now. Although that's what happens to most athletes when they retire.

Speaking of Teemu has there been anything new on his decision front? I have an e1, friend of mine told me that a contract was already done and it was just waiting to be announced... I don't know why they'd wait for. But it was a steal for the Ducks, which leads me to believe it's not true. How important is Selanne's return now that the Ducks have lost Nieds and Penner?
Sure they've gained Tuzzi and Schneider, who are both suitable replacements.. I just feel if the Ducks want to compete for the cup again, they'll need increased contributions from Getzlaf and Perry, and a healthy Selanne.

I was talking to his father, Barry - who use to babysit me when I was a wee one:) - and he mentioned something about the IWK, then the cottage.

To cap off what was an eventful day to say the least, Ryan Shannon ended his date with the Cup proposing to his girlfriend Jessica. Oh and by the way…she said yes! (Mike Bolt/HHOF)
And how sad: Mark's Mom, Debbie, died during the Ducks' successful path to the Stanley Cup (cancer).

Brad May may have a broken foot, but it doesn't mean he can't be in a parade!
Amusing tidbit: they had to get a waiver to have the Cup be in the parade and not covered by flowers/organic material. Other amusing tidbit: May's wearing last year's jersey. Apparently he wasn't worried about the wind resistance while on the fast-moving float.
