My guess

Selke: Pandolfo
Norris: Lidstrom

Agreed. No one seemed to realize how sweet Sammy was until the playoffs hit. Which is of course after the voting is done.

Two players on the same team going for the same trophy never have a chance, not to mention Lidstrom really does deserve this bad boy.

I think Sammy has a good shot at bringing home the Selkie. He was getting a lot of cred by the time voting came around. Scotty has a good shot too but not as much.

I don't get how Kopitar is not even nominated for the Calder. Staal over Kopitar?

I also think Luongo will win the Hart.

Sigh.

I also think Luongo will win the Hart.

If Luongo wins any awards tonight whilst Brodeur has better numbers in every single goaltending category, with a worse defense in front of him and is up for both the Vezina and Hart also...then the league is more of a sham than it already is.

Something interesting though, Brodeur has 7? more shutouts than Luongo, but only has a 1% higher sv%?

shutouts should have no bearing on voting. They don't mean a thing.

I cannot find a category Luongo bested Brodeur in however, they even faced very similar shots per game.

I don't care as I'm not a fan of either. I just don't understand how Luongo could win either award over Brodeur given the numbers and the comparison in defenses.

i hope Pahlsson wins it
as far as Norris
they won't give it to Nieds since he got the Cup and Smythe
Pronger, well he didn't playa full year

Luongo will probably win simply because he made such a dramatic turn around for Vancouver. In that regard I think he is more deserving for the Hart Trophy but not for the Vezina. I agree, Broduer had better numbers across the board and it should be taken into account that the East was much, much more offensively-driven than the West. In fact, I think Broduer had one of the best seasons ever by a goaltender. But, I think it will end of being the trendy thing to vote Luongo as the Vezina winner. I dislike Broduer quite a bit but the man deserves that trophy.

However I think Crosby deserves the Hart over both of them. The kid simply made them an awesome team.

Pronger woulda won the norris had he not been injured. He had a grea ppg percentage.

I also don't think anyone on the Ducks cares about any of these awards...:handclap:

Like me! I called our cable provider to find out what was going on. The woman put me on hold to see if she could find out the problem, and just then a message scrawled across the bottom of the screen stating the Awards show would be shown at 11pm. :shakehead
I'll gladly stay up to watch a Ducks game, but not an awards show.

Points = Defense!

Yeah, apparently.

I remember these stats gathered by Obobo23:

Pahlsson: +35 -39
Brindy: +68 -61
Pandolfo: +34 -39

So Pahlsson and Pandolfo were on ice for only 39 ES goals against while Brindy was on ice for 61! If anything, he's the worst defensive forward of the finalists--not that he's bad or anything, but still, I feel the other 2 were more deserving.

Right numbers, wrong poster who tallied them up.
<---

I'm fine with Brindy winning, I just knew the points were going to be the difference. Just like how Pahlsson probably didn't have a realistic chance at Smythe. Although I was somewhat surprised that he even was a finalist. And Selke is also based a lot on reputation, he'll have a much better chance next year (even if his season isn't as good).

I don't get Versus, so I won't be watching it. But I wouldn't have anyways, award shows are boring to me.

And it's fine that you attributed it to someone else, easy mistake to make since it's not like I ever post anything useful anyways.

Well, the voting was VERY close. And Sami did get more first place votes! :yo:

1. Brind`Amour 420 pts (16-21-7-23-9)
2. Sam Pahlsson 405 (24-8-18-4-7)
3. Jay Pandolfo 311 (16-10-10-7-10)

He is still OUR Selke and Stanley Cup winner! :D

Don't forget that the voting was done before the playoffs, so thanks to the new NHL schedule, most of the voters probably didn't even see a single Ducks game the entire regular season.

After this year's playoffs, Pahlsson is a huge favorite to win the Selke next season.

Giguere with 2 points for Vezina = Times and Register? Or did one of the 2 vote for him in 4th place or whatever. Or is that votes and not points?

Edit: N/M, Vezina was the one voted by GMs.

McDonald19

Brind'Amour: 82 points in 78 games
Pahlsson: 26 points in 82 games

They need to make another trophy for best defensive forward. Clearly they are giving the award to the best 2-way forward in the NHL. Pahlsson was a better shutdown forward than Brind'Amour this season and Brind'Amour was a better 2-way forward than Pahlsson this season.

The GM's only vote for first, second, and third place (with one point for third), meaning that two GM's voted Giguere for third place. I wonder who they were? Burke probably wasn't one of them because he wants to keep Giguere's salary from going too high (only half kidding here).

If my job were to cover hockey for a living, you damn well better believe I'd be watching as many games as I could. It's really unfathomable to me that there are actually guys lucky enough where their job is to watch sports, and yet they only do the bare minimum (IOW, only watch the team they cover).

I'm just going to watch the very beginning of it to see if they give a congrats to our SC Champions (I'm expecting they will say something like they usually do at the draft) just so I can hear it again.
Then when the actual awards start, I'm turning it off.

I wonder why the destription of selke is this
The Frank J. Selke Trophy is an annual award given to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.

IfI was JS Giguere i'd feel so disrespected that guys like Backstrom and Miller finish ahead in the Vezina voting. This guy is the Rodney Dangerfield of goalies..

pretty sad how a 48 goal scorer and a guy that's 2nd in west scoring can't even manage to make any all star teams.

Agreed. They need to re-write the award to say...given to the forward who best excels in both the defensive and offensive aspects of the game.

Obviously Brind'Amour is a better 2-way forward than Pahlsson...but Pahlsson is a better shut down forward than Brind'Amour.

Not its true purpose anyway.
