Thundermare 06-14-2007, 09:49 AM I'm wondering if any of you would know what's going on with him? Any talk of a Contract signing any time soon?
Do you see him in the NHL in the near future?
He had a pretty decent season in the RSL but is there any place on the roster for him?
Ducksforcup 06-14-2007, 10:08 AM Yah, the Ducks hace signed him to a contract. One year I believe. :)

I think he has a legitimate chance. :) If he does make it, it will at first be as a 4th-6th defenseman I believe.
His chances would improve if one or two of Huskins, DiPenta, and O'Donnell were not re-signed.
bleuer 06-14-2007, 10:35 AM well, I heard a lot of bad things about DiPenta...was he really that bad? If so, Kondratiev has to be an upgrade...but he will have a hard time in our "North America" defense :)

He may have a harder time with Burke's anti-Russian sentiments. Who knows though? He did really well in the minors.

Joey is solid in his own end but he skates funny, takes the occasional bad penalty and has little to no offensive talent. I like him simply because he hustles real hard and doesn't make many mistakes. Others can't stand his skating and lack of overall skill.

I am not a great fan of Joey. But aside from his awkward scating he plays a really sound game. The fact that he is not noticed on the ice is an indication that he is doing something right.
I wouldn't mind it if he is re-signed. His salary will fit nicely in this salary cap era.
Buck Naked 06-15-2007, 12:28 AM The only play Dipenta knows when the puck is on his stick is shoot as hard I can off the boards. I have never seen someone panic so much with the puck, he iced the puck far to many times in the playoffs for my comfort and when he is out there against a top line he has absolutely no chance.
Shanker 06-15-2007, 01:01 AM Did anyone see Sidney Crosby mention and congratulate Joe DiPenta on the NHL Awards show? They are both from the same hometown of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Would that be like the best NHLer giving props to the worst?

It only appears like he hustles more than the rest because of his awkward skating and its not about how he looks but what he does on the ice.
His decision making is slow, he has zero ability to skate the puck out of trouble (making him wing the puck off the glass for icings), and his first pass is mediocre. So yeah, his overall lack of talent is a problem.

I thought he was worse this year than last year he cannot handle the puck at all.
