Is anyone else excited about the amount of good young players on are team. It will be fun to see who can make a splash in this upcoming training camp/season.

Im looking forward to seeing Zajac, Clarkson, Green and Parise all get even better.
If we lose Gomer it won't be the end of the world. Let's just get Marty more rest and perhaps a veteren back up.

The Atlantic will be real tough next season espically after UFA's are singed but, I like our chances again.

I wish we had a bluechip defensive prospect.

Andy Green? Marc Fraser could make the club too.

I am so excited to see Greene next season. I just hope he doesn't flop. And I was never impressed with Fraser's play.

what is Greene's status as far as his contract?

He just signed a two year contract for 1.2 mil.

I agree. He wasn't that good with the puck and took several dumb penalties.

I think Greene is going to have a big impact next season. And as for Fraser, he didn't get to play very many minutes when he was up here, but I thought he got more comfortable each game he got into. He was probably one of the best d-men in Lowell too. I wouldn't be surprised to see him ready to step in 2008-09

i agree about the backup goalie. if we do not retain gomez, onething we need to do is go after a capable backup goalie. i love clemmer, but hes just not a very good goalie, plain and simple.

Why? Marty sets how many games he plays. Why should we overpay for a goalie that will play less than 10 games in a year? If we're going to let Clemmer go, let Doyle play backup for his 450k a year, and let Parise be the clear starter in Lowell. I think Jordan will be the stopgap for the Devils while Frazee or another goalie develops. I honestly see him as the next Terreri.

I agree.

I think that Vancouver could be a good trading partner. They have alot of depth at that position and I wouldn't mind acquiring Luc Bourdon or Alexandre Edler for Bergfors, Tallackson and a decent pick. We have some young talent up front (Parise, Zajac, Clarkson) and guys that are signed for a couple more years (Elias, Gionta, Langenbrunner) so focusing on our blueline would be a smart move.

I think Bergfors is expendable. Clarkson really stepped up and showed he can be a top 6 forward in the future and perhaps even as soon as this season. Bergfors, in my opinion, will either make the team this season out of camp, or go back to Sweden and become trade bait. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and he's still only 20 and a good prospect, but there are other areas on the team that need improving.

Was Randy McKay ever a top 6 forward? Clarkson is an offensive version of Janssen.

I agree with your assessment of Bergfors. He might even be dealt at the draft.

Yes, Randy McKay was absolutely a top-6 forward. Not during his whole tenure, but for several years.

His best offensive season was 97-98 when he went 24-24-48 in 74 games. McKay was a great Devil, don't get me wrong, but when could he ever be called a top 6 forward?

Hey man, some people are throwing around the idea of Pandolfo playing LW on the 1st line. Which is more outrageous...that or Clarkson playing in the top 6?

DEFINITELY pando on the top line is more outrageous

what makes anyone think that he has a scoring touch now? this is the same guy that falls down at least twice per shift

Pandolfo on the top line, no question. Clarkson, I believe played a game or two with Parise and Zajac and that line -in one game at least- had somewhere around four or five points. I don't think playing on the second line for a game makes him a top six forward, but he can be counted on to be there, if we really need him -again.

But Marty won't sit for more than ten games- he just won't. It's pointless to pay so much for a goalie who will barely play, no matter what the coach wants. Face it, Marty plays when he wants to play, not when the coach wants him to. Lou knows that, so there's no way he's going to spend money on a Gomez replacement or someone for defense.
