HF Article 06-10-2007, 04:00 PM Just two of Anaheim's eight picks in 2002 have made it to the NHL and just one player remains a part of the organization five years later.

DucksWon'07 06-10-2007, 08:30 PM Woah do you get paid to have that stubhub signature? That would be a pretty sweet deal.:naughty:
Oh and when it says bust for status does that mean they don't play any hockey these days, or just no chance of ever making the NHL? PLease elaborate.
And lastly I would love to see Tim Brent make a name for himself.
Nice article!:yo:
Kevin Forbes 06-10-2007, 11:58 PM Bust for a status means that as an NHL draft pick, they're a bust. Fritshaw, Petrow, Vihko, Lee, Davis and Caron are all no longer Anaheim property and the Ducks have nothing to show for their picks. In fact, two of those players don't even appear to be playing serious hockey any longer.
The Stubhub signature is part of our sponsorship agreements, I do believe. I think it helps allow great writers like myself (:p:) to continue to provide quality programming to viewers like you. [/PBS]
lux_interior 06-11-2007, 12:51 AM So to sum up your article...our 2002 draft sucks other than Lupul (traded) and Brent (potentially).

Why does that sound like a lot of our drafts prior to 2003?
Hockey Duckie 06-11-2007, 03:28 AM Remember, the org also got some players on FA. But that draft was a success if only that Lupul got so much noteriety that he became the pinnacle for the Pronger trade!

But if you look across the league (or just look at this summary article (http://hockeysfuture.com/articles/9713)), you'll see that the 2002 draft wasn't the strongest draft for a number of organizations and that although Anaheim has only gotten one regular NHLer out of the draft so far, they faired better than a number of other teams.
Vancouver, for example, only got 1 game (actually just around 3 minutes) from all of their 11 picks combined.

Yeah, a pretty weak draft. Toronto did awfully well, though.
Fighter 06-11-2007, 07:13 PM It's sad to see George Davis' career had ended, he could have been one of the best enforcer in the NHL.
I know he was a terrible skater, I'm asking myself if he lacked work ethic in order to improve a little bit. I mean, we had for a whole year Garret Burnett!

Apparently, the reason why he was cut from Portland's camp was poor attitude and poor conditioning. Both were bad enough for the organization to simply say "go home and don't call us again".

That's what I was thinking. He looked FAT in some pictures I saw of him, you must work on your body to be NHL material and probably he was not willing to do so.
