1. He decides to give one more year to the team. He has got his ultimate personal reward and fulfillment, but will want to help the team he loves to carry it forward both on and off the ice. Somehow I really buy it when the kids say they've benefited so much from playing alongside Teemu, and the fans eat out of his hand for sure.

2. One more year is what it takes to bump Paul off the top of several all-time Ducks statistics. Sure, Teemu is not one to to take anything away from his friends, but that would be the final straw that really elevates him to all-time Boss Quack status. At least for now until Getz & co get another 10 years under their belt. :D

3. With the exception of Giggy, the Ducks are pretty much settled financially for 2007-08. Getz, Perry and Kunitz have one more year left in their entry contracts. The Ducks will need Teemu's big bucks by that time, but not before that. Teemu knows this as well, and being the team guy that he is will take it into consideration.

4. This team is so awesome. It must be a great feeling to play with such great guys, knowing everyone is able do their bit and carry their part of the workload. The contrast to Teemu's first stint must be huge, and makes the game so much more enjoyable. This even considering the huge personal sacrifices required.

5. Seize the day. Once you call it quits the decision can't be reversed, especially when in your late 30's, so why not go for it while it's there. Teemu himself says the last two years have been the best by far in his career. Success is addictive.

So there. You read it here first. :D:D:D

Teemu and his ex-partner in crime sign one year minimum deals (the Colorado syndrome) to play for the ducks so his little LW buddy can get his run at a ring.

Sounds out of left field but ya never know........

FWIW - Ryan Smyth was spotted having lunch twice with Mr Burke in the past week.......... Now that would be a scary power play.
