Yashin or Handzus

Who would you take on the Devils 1st line center?

TaiMaiShu

Neither. But if I has to pick one it would be the Zeus. Yasin is a floater.

Handzus, no question. Yashin has more skill, but I don't want someone who doesn't show every night.

I don't like the idea of either one, but, if I had to chose, I'd pick Handzus. I'm not very bfond of Yashin at all.

Neither player is a first line center but I'd take Handzus, not even close. He would give us size which we need and he's defensively responsible which is a must when you're a Devil.

Actually, depending on the salary, I wouldn't mind seeing Handzus on the Devils.

You gotta be kidding me.... handzus hands down. YASHIN SUCKS.

IF Gomez leaves and Yashin accepts less than 4 mil then Yashin, any other scenerio then its Handzus.

Im curious as to know whether some people watch when we play the islanders. Yashin did absolutely nothing. Sure he has a good shot, but thats it. Not physical, doesnt play defense, and is just lazy.

Zeus would fit nice on this team but not in a 1st line role.

If Yashin would take under 2 mil for one year plus a club option, I wouldn't mind seeing him on our fourth line with Sergei Brylin and either Clarkson or Janssen. Sarge will not let him float.

Yashin could help the PP a lot. How is he on face-offs? I hardly watched the Isles and don't know his face-off percentage. Also, how is he in shootouts?

The guy still has skill. If he would take a small contract and a small role until he proves himself ready to return to the upper echelon of NHL players, I would think about him very seriously.

Handzus is always hurt. If he could stay healthy, I would prefer him. But he never is healthy.

Yashin isn't going to play on someone's 4th line. He'll either get a money offer from someone or go back to Europe.

He's getting handed most of his paycheck, he's not in a position to have to beg.

If we get Gomez, and you guys end up with Yashin, I will laugh at you. Take Handzus if you have the choice and run.

You're not getting Gomez and we're not getting Yashin. Yashin is the anti-Devil
and if he offered to play for the league minimum I would hope Lou would say no thanks.

I had enough of watching Yashin when he was on the Devils the last time when his name was Kozlov.

6-5 217...He definately doesn't play as big as he is...also that hair is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.I have to admit it's a big reason why I do not like him. Looks like he has a poodle under his helmet...

Both suck balls!

Handzus is a 3rd line center at best.

Handzus is certainly a 2nd line center at worst. He's great defensively, is a big body who does not play as soft as some people seem to think, and is experienced in the playoffs. I'd certainly take him if signing Gomez was out of the realm of possibility.

if yashin got a 1 year prove yourself contract for just over a million.....why not. lou does seem to have a thing for russians. and he does HAVE the talent, just a matter of drawing it out(somehow.) im not saying lou should pursue him, but if he is for some off the wall reason signed for 1 year@1.3mil then why not give it a try. i doubt we see either in a devs jersey anyways so it doesnt really matter.

I wouldn't mind Yashin at $2 million maximum. He's still a good player, but the right people can maybe straighten him out. Jason Arnott was a similar player before he came to Jersey and our organization, the same thing could maybe be done with Yashin?...

Jason Arnott lived with Stevens until Scotty set him straight. We no longer have that luxury.

That said, I wouldn't go completely berserk if we gave him, say, a year contract at $2M. Alexander Mogilny wasn't exactly a Devils-type player when he first came to New Jersey.

Gomer is going to sign with Vancouver, according to a friend of mine who claims he has some reliable sources.

So let's sign Chris Drury, or at the very least, Mike York. York had a great rookie year with the Rangers, but Gomez beat him out for Rookie of the Year. I like York a lot!!! Would be perfect on the fourth line in place of Jimmy Dowd and could play with Pando and Madden, too.

BTW, is Yashin still going out with Carol Alt? If so, he likes the area, and I would consider him for one year at the league minimum or a mil per.

To be honest, I think our fourth line will be Brylin--Pelley--Janssen.

I can live with that. Still, we need a pure goal scorer. Is Mike Bossy available? ;)

2 million is very reasonable for Alexei Yashin but I don't think he'd be interested in NJ anyways.

Mike York has been, perhaps, the worst player in the NHL for the last season and a half.

Mike York? Mike York??! I'd take Mike Rupp, Jim Dowd or Erik Rasmussen over him any given day!!

What good would come out of us signing Mike York?! Nothing!! He's worthless!

And I am sure the feeling is mutual in Lou's mind.

Why would the Devils want Alexei Yashin? He is not a Devil type player.

I would prefer Handzus of the two if I had to choose but neither of them would be anywhere need the top of my wish list.

Geez, is she still dating everyone in the NHL? She's gotta be about 60 years old already. I'd like to think Cashin' Yashin can do much better in his choice of women.

I'll take Handzus, and that's only because he has a better defensive game and I woulnd't offer more then 2.5M$ to one or the other.
