"In an interview on May 9, 2007, Gomez clearly stated he wishes to sign with the Vancouver Canucks during the off-season. He said that he looks forward to playing with some of Vancouver's elite players, including the Sedin twins."

from wikipedia..anyone heard this, or read this interview? i know wiki isn't always right, but it seems plausible

That might bring the Devils some first round draft picks if it were true.

Actually maybe not, because he said it, not the team.

ever think a vancouver fan just made that up? and put it on wikipedia considering it is open for anybody to edit. And since it could be plausible they left it there. But i have yet to actually see the so called "interview" where he said this

Yeah he didn't have a interview with them and when my dad asked him where he was going he said he didn't know. If that list I got from Carlos is still correct vancouver was mentioned I believe. The other thing that makes it kind of iffy is that they don't cite a source they just say in an interview.

Is New Jersey on the list? I'm guessing not

No. And I heard from 3 different people that he's pretty much now coming back. The post would be before Elias came back. I think January or so.

i'm kind of confused in what you mean here. Does that mean he still could be coming back or is it 90% he's not?

I'd say 95% maybe higher he's not coming back. Ofcourse that could change on me again but I wouldn't bet on it.

There is lots of traffic on the Canucks sites about Gomez along with a few other UFAs. However he ranks high on the fan wish list.

However he would not play with the Sedins so the interview is probably not realistic. The Sedins need a scoring winger. Gomez would be a better fit with Naslund on a second or 1B line. Morrison would have to be moved for cap space.

The Canucks don't really have the cap space to pursue Gomez. NJ fans can breathe easier.

That's just me making up a number up pretty much. I'm not good at odds making but I am pretty confident he's not coming back. Hey I should make up my own system. Let's see what can I use. Oh hey I got it.

In an interview on the Team 1040 Radio in Vancouver on May 19, 2007, Gomez clearly stated he wishes to sign with the Vancouver Canucks during the off-season. He said that he looks forward to playing with some of Vancouver's elite players, including the Sedin twins. He also stated that he was tired of the posts on HFBoards from bitter Devils fans.
