My money is on Lou and crew to trade up to the first round.
Trading White may be a possibility

Who do you think they will target? JVR?

White has a NTC.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Devils move up, but the problem is that they don't have a first round pick this year, so that makes it much harder to move up into the top part of the first round.

they can only move up with multiple picks in this draft or future picks from future drafts.

noone on the current roster (that the devils would actually trade) would garner a 1st rounder this year. the devils need some decent quantity and at least a smidge of quality out of this years draft.

there are clearly no real impact players in the pipeline save perhaps a bergfors or corrente and they are years away.

guys like clarkson, ryznar, greene etc will be decent assets that can provide support to others but none are top defensemen or offensive players capable of consistent seasons of 25+ goals.

I didn't even enter the draft this year, so if anything, I think I would sign as a free agent. ;)

I don't see Lou moving around that much this year. Maybe packaging his 2nd and a later pick to to either jump up into the late first round or early second round, if someone is available like Parise

Not a possibility. Lou signed Whitey for a bajillion years for a reason. And that $3M is going to look pretty smart when the top UFA D men keep getting signed for close to twice that amount.

He's not a true top pairing guy, and the folks on HF just can't stop beating the bejebus out of him (as he is in virtually every trade proposal, desptie that NTC...), but top 4 in this league is worth $3M, pretty much exactly.

In a bit of an aside to this topic... can people please stop obsessing about JVR? Yes he's from New Jersey. Lou doesn't care if you're from the god damn moon as long as you can help the team. Sure it would be cute if we drafted him but he shouldn't be made to be some kind of super prospect we have to move up to get.

How many times must it be said that Colin White has a NO TRADE CLAUSE.

I'd be willing to do this...

Madden + Martin + Bergfors + 3rd round pick (at the limit our 2nd rounder)
VS
4th overall pick and Visnovksy

That would allow us to get a verry decent prospect with the 4th overall pick, a great offensive defensemen that can work the PP and free up some $$$ to resign Rafalski and Gomez.

Our lineup would look like this:

Elias - Gomez -Gionta
Parise - Zajac - Clarkson
Pandolfo - Viuhkola - Langenbrunner
Brylin - Pelley - Rupp

Rafalski -Greene
Visnovsky - White
Oduya - Lukowich

I don't want us to draft him because he's from New Jersey, I like him because he's talented. I don't care where they're from, if they're talented and will fit into our system, then they're worth it. Otherwise, they can sign where ever they want.
