How can Marty Brodeur not be every Devils' fan favourite player. I personally cannot fathom the possibility:help: There are only three possibilities in my opinion : 1. Want to be different then the norm. 2. You played hockey at certain position therefore;like a player at that position. 3. You judge a player what he has done off the ice.

Marty is deffinetly my favorite devil, and i dont really think 99% of us devils fans hold the things that he has done off the ice against him. Marty is a great guy who just made a mistake, we love him regardless!

4. Because sometime favorite players just defy logic.

Why is this post in bold again?

If you go to a Devils game the vast majority of people who are wearing jerseys have #30 on the back. I'd say Marty is far and away the most liked Devils player.

Agreed.

I'd like to think almost every die hard Devils fan has at least a Brodeur #30 jersey...

Marty has always been there for us... for how many years now? He is every Devils default favorite... but he is only one part of a team of many.

I only have one, and it's a Stevens jersey. But I do plan on getting a Brodeur one before next season.

Doesnt make anyone less of a fan, but its not a bad idea to own one, get him to sign it and have it as a collectors item...

Parise might give Brodeur a run for his money in the long run. Look at every back of every girl in their teens and early twenties. Most of them are Parise now. I know that's what jersey I got for my girlfriend. As for Brodeur though, I played left wing so Elias became my favorite player. We're so used to having Marty that we take him for granted. We're spoiled brats who have a never ending supply of Lou's Kool-Aid.

Marty is by far and away my favourite player. However, the only Devs jersey I own is Parise. My reason being is that I made the trip to Montreal back around New Years to watch Marty shut out the Habs 3-0. I waited around the visiting teams entrance to try and get a few autographs only to have the garage door closed on me. After the game I went back and waited around, the door man was about to close the door on me again when Zach came out to sign something for me. I wished him more success in his sophmore season, and he went on to call his dad in his usual post game fashion. I was so appreciative of his efforts to sign something for me that I had to have a #9 before the #30. Marty is still my favourite, but Zach is probably my favourite player other than a goalie.

I don't hold anything against him, that's for sure. He's always been one of my favorites, along with Stevens and Daneyko.

Parise is attractive, that's the only reason they have his jersey. He's like our Crosby- young, talented, and most girls find him to be good looking. If it wasn't for his looks, there's a good chance they wouldn't have his -or any- jersey.

Done and done. Don't wear that one.;)

(I wear my Gionta jersey to games. Thought he was awesome from day one and immediately got an authentic. First one I saw anyone wearing... Now there are bunches, obviously.)

Crosby a better player, but Parise is a better looking kid.

Good thing I don't do the same thing, else I probably would have bought a Jere Karalahti Kings' jersey. The first time I watched him, Karalahti scored twice with two scorching slapshots from the point. I was thinking "Oh man, he's the next Al MacInnis." And then the next week, I traded Rafalski for him in a keeper fantasy league. :banghead:

Not until Marty wins a series or carries this team will he be a favorite for me. He had the opportunity this year and was letting goals in from behind the net 30 feet away. He had a pityful playoff. He better redemmed himself next year with a Cup.

As a teenage Female, yes, Zach is my favorite Devil. But that would be because of his skills on the ice. I must not be like 'most girls' because I always look at an athelete's talent and abilities first and foremost--His looks are an added bonus (;)). When I was getting more and more into hockey, my Dad took me to my first UND hockey game during Zach's freshman year and he was just such an amazing player, I've been hooked ever since.

I'm not trying to say all teenage girls like Parise soley because of his looks. He's always been a favorite of mine, since he was in college, and I could care less if he looked like an ape, as long as he's good at hockey. However, if he wasn't attractive, about 75% of those Parise and hockey "fans" wouldn't like him, or possibly even the Devils half as much, even if he had a 300 point season.

My favorite devils' are in order

All-Time Fav Devils- Johnny Mac, & Bob Sauve.

1. Langenbrunner- absolutely my kind of hockey player.
2. Parise- Zack lives around the corner from me. And a great guy.
3. Gomez- Just a fun guy to be around, and great puck mover.....And can he drink or what.
4. Rafalski- Always plays hard, never quits.
5. Gionta- Has the heart ofa giant.
6. Elias- Great leadership qualities, but still dont think he should be wearing the C.

Love marty, but it will always be #4.

What the hell are you talking about? Isn't winning 3 cups for us enough? Or don't those count? He certainly was part of that equation that won us those 3 cups.

As for Martin's off ice life, he's my hero. His sister in-law! Man I should be that lucky. She's not too bad looking either.

I've been following the Devils, only in the playoffs since I got into the US (I came from a country where we don't even experience temperatures below 65 F and being that the NHL is one of the top professional sports organizations in North America).

But for the past 5 years, I've started to ask questions and research how the game is played when I've watched the Salt Lake Games in 2002. Since then, slowly, I've been following the team and loved them. I really hated it when they went into a lockout. I really felt that Hockey is the best of all the professional sports played in North America. It has the scoring-laziness of baseball and soccer, the physicality of rugby and the NFL, the quickness of basketball, but with a better trophy, better action (love the mini-boxing matches!), and shall I say, "HOT" players! ;)

I've bought Brodeur's jersey this year and will get Parise's in the next few weeks (I'm infatuated with him!). IMO, 50% of the success of the Devils were in part of Brodeur. This year, he had proven that to me, he goes down, and the rest of the team can't cope up with it, they all go down. In 2003, it wasn't like that. Even though Anaheim got their chances in the Finals, everyone in the team were great. It just wasn't the case this year. I just hope really hope next year, we'll see what we have seen them do in their Cup years.

Goalies aren't always favorites, it's mostly fowards due to many people playing that position unlike the rare goalie position.

My favorite player is Parise, because i have never seen someone with the work ethic this kid has when he is on the ice. I like rooting for the guys who work for it, and not take for granted their talents.

But the best player is unquestionably Marty.

Langenbrunner and Zajac are my favorite Devils, right now!. langenbrunner has a hell of a shot that reminds me of Richer's shot...

It may resemble his speed, but his form is way different - Langs has a good fundamental shot, but Richer was a crazy form - he actually would stay facing his target, not turn sideways when taking the big slapper... it looked way more graceful than it was to duplicate (i've tried and it's darn hard) - but I'm sure that's why he scored so many goals - there wasn't the traditional cue for the goalies that it was coming... (other than seeing the stick 2 feet above his shoulders.. heh heh).:yo:

I'd have to say Richer's was more accurate too!!!! Jamie has a cannon, but he's like that kid from the mighty ducks movie......"but coach, 1 out of 5 (or 10 whatever)"

1/5 is correct- don't ask.
I think Langenbrunner's shot is less accurate than Richer's, but it's more of a 2/5 or 2/6 than 1/5. ;)
