One thing I've wondered about and asked, but I don't think I've ever gotten a definitive answer, is what is Minard's status? Does he just have an AHL contract? Is there any chance he could play for the Devils next season? I think he'd be great on the fourth line to add some offense.

Was wondering the same thing myself, why despite leading the ENTIRE AHL in scoring for a good portion of the season (not sure where he finished), and our team lacking scoring at times, that his name never, ever came up. On these boards, in articles about the Devils, anywhere.

My assumption was the same as DF38, that he wasn't the NJ Devils property and was just playing with an AHL contract, essentially a career minor leaguer. But still... A 30-plus goal scorer anywhere in our ranks would merit some attention, one would think.

Even Jared's article only mentioned him in passing, without a clickable link on his name like the others. I googled him and after ten minutes could find only his stats...but nothing about him or his status with the Devils. (Which I assume is NO STATUS aside from this past season as a Lowell Devil.)

Yup, I believe he played LW on Gomer's line.

Edit: here's (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php3?pid=31762) his stats from hockeydb. He spent last year with Lowell and split the 05-06 season between Alaska and Albany. And in the lockout year he had 49 goals and 29 assists playing with Gomez.

I am not aware of his status with the organization as well. His age makes him ineligible to be a prospect here on HF, but it's hard not to notice when a guy scores 30+ goals at the AHL level. By all accounts, you'd probably think he's earned himself an NHL level contract and a legit shot at an NHL job somewhere, whether it be here or some other team.

According to TSN (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=5001&hubname=nhl-devils), Minard signed as a free agent with the Devils on August 16, 2005, but isn't listed on the roster (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/roster/?hubname=nhl-devils).

Unfortunately, I think Tallackson, Pihlman and Ryznar are too slow and not that good.
More wasted draft picks by Conte & staff.
We may even throw Vrana in that group of underachivers.

Any thoughts on Tomas Harant? Any NHL potential there?
