Fire Babcock

He did a good job last year and well terrible job this year. I would've played Giguere back to back vs Sharks but he think Gerber is the answer. Now Giguere has so many days between starts, it isn't like Giguere is 37..the guy can handle back to back games for the love of God. The team isn't responding to Babcock...I'd hire Mike Keenan as #1 and #2 trade for Viktor Kozlov to help the offense. Fire Babcock as it is time to go for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the biggest problems with hockey these days....people thinking a third of a season of mediocrity is worth firing a coach over.

Babcock got the Ducks to the friggin' Stanley Cup Finals just last season....and you're ready to can him now??? :shakehead

braino - Gerber wasn't the problem last night. We've given up 11 goals in the last 7 games. Goaltending's not the issue anymore - it's offense. Yell at Babcock for that if you want.

lol when i first saw this thread and chuckled and shook my head...lol its not babs fault, hes not the one playing out there,i like babcock alot,he's helped the team alot wit the success we had last season..its a matter of time when everything will come together and all our guys become healthy and 100%..firing babcock is nowhere near the right answer

Uh no. I think the guy deserves a lot more for taking us to the finals than a firing 2 months into his next season. The only problem I've had with him is that he keeps playing Havelid and keeps benching Vishnevski when Vishnevski has been playing pretty well while Havelid has been downright horrendous in his own end.

Fire Babcock!?? haha. No way. If anything is the problem I think its letting your Stanley Cup team get away from you. Thomas, Oates, Kariya, and even Chouinard was playing well last year. Vinny Prospal needs to start playing better, and finally Fedorov is playing like Fedorov. And I think Gerber should be #1.(for right now) Make Giguere work for the starting job again. Babcock is up there with the top coaches in the league.

This time I don't think its the coach's fault. There is a chemistry problem and we need to make at least a small trade.

Right. I don't see the reason why Vish sits and Havelid plays.

A) What's wrong with having two quality starting goalies go everynight? It's not like he's benching Giguere for Corey Hirsch....and like it's been said, the goalies aren't the problem.

B) Mike Keenan!?!?!? Right because outside of the 1994 Rangers, what has he done lately? There's a reason he's been fired so much...Babcock is fine.

C) You can try and trade for a player all you want, but if the team don't want to give him up, it's useless (Mike Comrie ring a bell?). Florida doesn't want to trade Kozlov.

Yeah, fire Babcock, hire Keenan and trade for Kozlov. Right. Look at all the success FLA had with those two. Firing Babcock at this point is ridiculous beyond belief. :shakehead

I actually agree with this guy, all except the Kariya bit, why must people insist it could have gone another way? Kariya wanted 10 mill or more, would you have your team pay him 10 mill?

Judging by how this year is going? I'm starting to think it would have been wise to pay Paul 10 mil.

As much as it hurts to say so, we were better with Kariya/Oates/Thomas than we are with Fedorov/Prospal/Johnson.

If you're looking at just this year...yes. However, Oates and Thomas are in the twilight of their storied careers. Kariya of course is still in his prime.

OTOH Fedorov is still in his prime, possibly getting somewhat close to the end of his production prime. However he has many years after that where he could potentially be a very productive leader in other aspects of the game. And Prospal is still in his prime. Coming off a career year (and contract year) but still in his prime. Johnson never really had a prime.

My point is that in the long run, we are better off with Fedorov/Prospal as opposed to Kariya/Oates/Thomas.

i agree...kariya,oates and sykora didnt get going until the first game of the 2nd half in Colorado and then they were on a roll...i think things will start going for us in the 2nd half and with a healthy'er team and all,we'll have a similar 2nd half to last year

I don't think Fedorov's in his prime. Unless you're taking his last 8 or so seasons as a barometer for how he produces (60-ish points), in which case he's right on schedule.

I'd have Babcock be the assistant with Lorne Henning and let him learn from Larry Robinson.
