Very tough game for Russia. Nobody have won on homeice since 1986. There is allot of pressure and the best of 1 games are nuts.

Reminds me of the Czech against US in Prague a few years ago.

Ah, our last game at the Championship. I hope we at least make a good impression.

I have nothing against you personnaly, but I can't stand people who act like you. You know, I know and everyone else knows that you believe your team can win, and you want them to win. By saying what u said, u take up a position of celebrating hard if u win, and saying I told u so, if u loose...

cska78
05-09-2007, 07:42 AM
Guyes put up a good fight please, on such a day u cannot loose...

Let the best team win. I am hoping refs will do good job in polayoffs.

Is it really smart to take in players this late? I guess time will tell.

We don't have any depth in that department. I'll be ready take chances with Nabby if we win and Eremenko is shaky today

Brylin will not play against Czechs. However, (he is ready to go and will play anywhere)
Tyutin will not play because of injury.

Nabakov should be in the net as soon as he is ready. No question about it.

Great patience by Frolov with the incredible pass. A real beauty

Den

The game is slow. I don't get it, doesn't Russia understand that speed is the answer??

Den

I don't like this: they will outshoot and outchance them severalfold, Chechmanek will keep it 1:0, then a couple of Czech counterattackes and we are irgled...

Snoil11
05-09-2007, 08:52 AM
@Den:
May you give some brief comments about the game here and there e.g. scoring chance by xxx, hit by xxx, cause I have no opportunity to watch the game and the IIHF-liveticker isn't that amazing.

Ola
05-09-2007, 08:52 AM
I don't get it, can a goalie put the net back in place by himself?

If the Czech net is off, and they attack the other way the reff should let the play go on. Don't know if its determined if a net can be put back or not, though often either a linesmen or the goalie puts it back if the play is gooing the other way.

I don't like this: they will outshoot and outchance them severalfold, Chechmanek will keep it 1:0, then a couple of Czech counterattackes and we are irgled... Thats how Czechs usually play... Thier game plan is to counterattack. Thats why it is important to score one more.

Hopefully Cechmanek will give up another one.

AO always look like that after a shift. He skates like crazy.
Weak call on Nepryaev
I don't know about that, I think it was a pretty obvious cross-checking. It the ref doesn't call that one, AO gets a great scoring chance because the Czech player was fouled.

05-09-2007, 09:27 AM

Den
05-09-2007, 09:28 AM
Nothing too big happening for Czechs. Kharitonov breaking a pass on open Sykora. Good PK for Russia. PP over

Den
05-09-2007, 09:29 AM
Czechs seem to control the puck a little more.

Den
05-09-2007, 09:30 AM
Some pressure by Russia. Morozov a pass on the crease, nobody fnished. Eremenko a save on the counterattack, no rebound.

Den
05-09-2007, 09:31 AM
I thought it was a penalty on Morozov

Den
05-09-2007, 09:33 AM
Radulov, Gonchar shots

Gonchar stopped a pass on the Czech counterattack the other way

Den
05-09-2007, 09:34 AM
Russia PP. Smid in the box. Ak Bars on PP

Den
05-09-2007, 09:36 AM
Russia's not moving much on PP. Nikulin a shot. End of period. 50 more secs of PP in the 3-d

The kind of goalles game that I hate more than anything....:shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

Kaktus
05-09-2007, 09:40 AM
Looks like Russians control this game. Yes Czech had some good moments but in last 40 minutes Russians look like a better team.

It would be nice to score on PP in 3rd.

Vladiator
05-09-2007, 09:41 AM
Chechmanek is playing well... Damn it... Good that we already scored a goal. Czechs will have to attack and hopefully we will outplay them in the open game.

Den
05-09-2007, 09:43 AM
Without Chechmanek Russia would have 2-3 goal lead, but Russia is less agressive than before. If they are trying to play D more, then this strategy definitely works against Russia - there were more chances for Czechs in the 2-nd than in the 1-st

Zine

By the way, the Canadian commentators on IIWC Live seem to be in love with the Russian team. I don't think I have ever heard so many praises even from Russian commentators. :) Hopefully, they won't jinx us (tfu tfu tfu).

If seen Russians play hockey for over 15 years, now, how many times must that be done to make it typical? A handful of times by a handful of players doesn't make it typical.

Great game by the Russians. Good luck in the future. Obviously I am cheering for Sweden, but if we won't win it, it would be great for the game if Russia wins this WCH. They need a success.

I've been watching it for 20 years, my friend (Russian Hockey that is)...And yes it's only typical in the past years since Kovalhuck's arrivals to the junior team, AO, Malkin, Radulov, Zubov (forward who played for Salavat this year) and others. This is a canadian thing, they always make big deal out of things like that. Malkin scored a beauty, when skating towards the bench he just turned his head and gave half second look at the czechs. I can't believe we are still discussing it. That's why Canadian hockey is such a borefest.

Markov played amazing! 1 goal, hit the post once, blocked few shots, great on the PK, great on D in general. Neutralized most of Czech attacks when on the ice. Just superb all around play.

Emelin on the other hand sucked, everytime he had the puckin our zone I was afraid a turnover would result in a goal. In other games I didn't notice him much.

You obviously haven't watched the Czechs much in recent years, especially against Canada. What goes around comes around.

Good game by the Russians. They looked awesome, especially defensively which really surprised me. There's a lot of passion on that team, something that's been lacking a lot recently. It was great to hear the anthem, too, and see the fans' obvious pride. As long as we don't hear it again....

I think having a real first line helps to this team Russia. Every time ZZM line was on the ice the Czechs had to back up. Even though they did not score this time I do believe they are a huge reason why this team plays so good. I just want togive some props to Proshkin. I know I heard a lot of bad things about this guy but I thought he was great.
What is up with Ovechkin? He has become so predictable? What is up with him losing the puck every second time he has the puck. He looks great as a checker though.

Just got back from the game. I was at the game with a friend of mine and we had excellent seats so we could see all game very good and I have few thoughts after all:
- Chechmanek is not a goalie - it's a joke.. he gave just a ton of rebounds in situations when I couldn't even imagine..
- Team Russia played extremely well on their own side, almost mistake free. Last time we played that good at our own half - it was a game against Canada in Turin.
- Ovechkin is looking more and more Kovalchuk-like :(
- Eremenko was solid. He had few good saves in the 3rd but I must admit that our defence played realy well.
- Malkin was flashy and dangerous every time he got the puck.
- Emelin is crease cleaning machine 2nd game in a row. He tries to level oposing player almost every time at the slot and he does success.
- Frolov was the best player on the ice, Imo. Yes, Malkin looked good but he was kind of flashy at times while Frolov looked dominant and impossible to beat every time on he was on the ice, I don't remember a bad shift, turnover, giveaway or bad decision from him ... Always calm and excellent decisions.. he creates just so much room for his partners and does a lot of dirty work.
- The friend of mine was great and I did enjoy time we spent togehter :D

I am an anti-Kovalchuk fan but I must admit, I was surprisingly impressed with him and take my words back not wanting him on team Russia.

As for Ovechkin - he needs to rediscover himself. After two years in NHL playing on a crappy team it made him do things constantly which you wouldn't be doing on a great team. He is not a selfish player but he does look like one right now, his passing game is reduced to zero. Perhaps he should spend a year in Russia again to find his game again, like Jagr did when he played for Avangard.

If I had to choose between Kovalchuk and ZZM line I definitely chose ZZM line. Their improtance to this team is huge. While I did say that I was impressed with Kovalchuk meaning that his overall contrbution was great it was ZZM line that dictated the flow for the game. Every time Czechs would start pushing there was ZZM line taking the puck back and created a khaos in the Czech zone. It is not coincidence that Czech started playing much better in the second period when Morozov was out with minor injury.

He looks better this year, than ever before. While Krikunov does have a big mouth, I still believe him, over a spoiled super star. Like someone said before, I don't care how good he's for the Thrashers, I care how good he is playing for Team Russia, and he's been very marginal to bad, except for this year, when he looks decent. Calling him a best player of the tournament is a far reach.

Now, let's see who our opponent will be in the semis. I tend to think that US would be more convinient for us, but both teams are great, so let's just wait and see.

"The unforseen family circumstances" must be his wife telling him "hell no you are flying to Moscow to watch the game from the stands! Take care of you daughter here!"

I am not sure who I am more (un)comfortable with: Eremenko all the way, or jetlagged Nabby coming into this team :shakehead

Rabiner in SE:

Wow :shakehead

Nope, not a big deal (overall) I agree but jeez, are we allowed to comment on it? Jeez, do you think you would've reacted if it was a Czheck who did it? Jeez, jeez, jeez. :sarcasm:

You surely use "jeez: a lot :) .

It things were reversed, I would be more worried about how we lost 0:4 rather than about the taunt.

So how is markov play?

He is so quiet but effective with the habs and I was wondering if it was the same with team Russia!

He is effective but not quiet! He scores, assists, defends... :handclap:

with quiet I was refering more to shy !
nice to hear that he's doing good. I'm also wondering if he's more vocal with the russian media than with the one in montreal.

Well he's got an A on his sweater. I don't know if that speaks of anything though. But I couldn't care less, since Markov is probably the most important player on this team. He's unreplaceable.

I really hope Markov signs with the Capitals as a ufa; he and Ovechkin would be a deadly combination on the power play all year long; in fact for years ahead.

If Markov wants to get Stanley Cup under his belt he won't sing with Caps... In fact Ovechkin will run away from that team as soon as he can.

Sure, but you'd still react to that incident. I'm quite sure of that. :D

That being said, the whole thing is soon forgotten.

Yes Markov is that much better than people in the NHL believe him to be. Was his last name not markov, but let's say Lattendresse...his poster would be on ever street of province Quebeck, and NHL would proclaim him the next Bobby Orr or something and he'd be playing 30 minutes a game. Since his last name is what it is, he's just considered solid, and his fame and minutes are taken by Sourray (woops another francophon) and such...IMHO

Markov should do what Perezhogin did, run from that team as fast as he possibly can and take Kovy+Sammy with him.

I can not wait to play USA..

ZMZ line is doing great.
Malkin/Kovalchuk/Frolov doing a lot better.

Bikov must get Ovechkin going and hopefully we will see Brylin next game.

I do not think USA will be able to stop Russian forwards, too young.

USA will have some problems with Finland who will fight for their lifes today.

Souray isn't a Francophone. He's Métis, an aboriginal Canadian group, and he was born in Alberta.
